Pillowcases have always been my extra touch for my\u00c2\u00a0grandchildrens’ holidays.\u00c2\u00a0 Judy Day goes a step further and makes seasonal towels for hers.<\/p>\n

She doesn’t spend a lot of time on these.\u00c2\u00a0 Judy\u00c2\u00a0simply personalizes the towels\u00c2\u00a0with their names and adds a little holiday motif to the letters.\u00c2\u00a0 These motifs\u00c2\u00a0might be\u00c2\u00a0extracted from other designs or\u00c2\u00a0they might be\u00c2\u00a0independent miniature designs.<\/p>\n

The children, of course, enjoy having some holiday decoration\u00c2\u00a0in their bathroom.\u00c2\u00a0 And Judy, of course, enjoys knowing they think of their grandmother\u00c2\u00a0“Mimi” every time they wash their hands.<\/p>\n

I could do this!\u00c2\u00a0 On my computer, I\u00c2\u00a0maintain a folder of miniature design\u00c2\u00a0sets as well as designs from which I could extract elements for such uses as this.\u00c2\u00a0 Brother, Babylock, Viking, Martha Pullen, Amazing Designs, Cactus Punch, OESD\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0Embroidery Library all have\u00c2\u00a0miniature collections.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 And they are not the only ones.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Border sets, such as Dakota Collectibles Toddler Trios,<\/em> and decorative buttonholes\u00c2\u00a0are other rich sources of tiny individual\u00c2\u00a0 designs, if you have a program\u00c2\u00a0that will enable you to isolate the elements.<\/p>\n

It seems that I am always singing the praises of\u00c2\u00a0 Buzztools program, BuzzEdit2<\/em>, which I use nearly every day and certainly every day that I sew.\u00c2\u00a0 With that program and even a few design collections, you can combine features of one design with another and create your own unique embroidery pattern.<\/p>\n

I wonder if there will be enough time left to make Christmas towels for my grandchildren after I finish Harvey and Alastair’s Christmas stocking and Laurel’s\u00c2\u00a0American Girls doll dress.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
