My friend Betty Ludwig just sent pictures of this to-die-for\u00c2\u00a0 jacket.\u00c2\u00a0 At one of the MArtha Pullen Schools of Art Fashion in Huntsville, Alabama,\u00c2\u00a0 Betty was my assistant when I was teaching\u00c2\u00a0 there.\u00c2\u00a0 We had such a great time.<\/p>\n

Betty regularly assists at\u00c2\u00a0Martha’s licensing and is quite\u00c2\u00a0an expert with\u00c2\u00a0her serger.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0And, obviously, she is an expert on the sewing machine as well.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0These are her comments about the jacket.<\/p>\n

“I’m sending you a couple of pix of a jacket I made.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0It is Missy Billingsley’s
\njacket tutorial using Evy Hawkins designs<\/em> Shopping Girls<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\n

Any jacket pattern will do but I used the one Missy recommended,\u00c2\u00a0Nancy’s Notions\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0“As you wish Jacket” pattern<\/a>, <\/em>but I hope to make a silk one and use the Heirloom Girl’s from Evy. She has a whole
\nset of the different girls that look great on lots of things.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I like sewing
\nfor myself so\u00c2\u00a0 I knew I wanted to make a jacket using them. \u00c2\u00a0I’m going to change the neckline with the silk one…”<\/em><\/p>\n

There are so many details to admire and study.\u00c2\u00a0 The embroidery designs speak to the shopper in each of us while the girlie pink and blue fabrics are fun and contemporary.\u00c2\u00a0 I especially like the inclusion of the black and white designer dress print which adds a little sophistication to\u00c2\u00a0pattern.<\/p>\n

The combination of quilt piecing and machine embroidery not only enhances\u00c2\u00a0 each feature, but is so well balanced that neither overwhelms the other.<\/p>\n
