These buttons are just sooooo sooooo neat!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 When my friend Betty Ludwig (see her Shopping Girls jacket a few posts ago) told me about the button machines from Hope Yoder and how much she loved hers, I was intrigued.\u00c2\u00a0 Basically, these buttons covered with machine embroidery.<\/p>\n

So why do you need a machine?\u00c2\u00a0 People have been covering buttons for a very long time, with nothing more than a package from the fabric department.\u00c2\u00a0 You don’t need a machine, if you are simply covering a button with fabric.<\/p>\n

But if you want to\u00c2\u00a0feature a motif in the fabric, or more currently, a machine embroidered design, then you’ve got a whole different set of challenges.<\/p>\n

The difficulty is centering.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0And it is\u00c2\u00a0easy peasy with Hope’s machine and her miniature embroideries designed\u00c2\u00a0specifically for\u00c2\u00a0buttons.<\/p>\n

But what do you do with these embroidered buttons, I asked Betty.\u00c2\u00a0 “EVERYTHING!!!!” was her answer.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0At Betty’s insistence,\u00c2\u00a0I\u00c2\u00a0watched the video\u00c2\u00a0on Hope’s web site<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0 and\u00c2\u00a0my excitement built.\u00c2\u00a0 These buttons can be used on anything for anybody!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0From key chain fobs to book marks to….well, just scroll through these photos.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Not only do\u00c2\u00a0they make great gifts for all ages, from babies to seniors, they can be the foundation of a home based embroidery business.\u00c2\u00a0 In Hope’s video, you see pizzazzy flip flops, topped with grosgrain\u00c2\u00a0bows and a monogrammed button.\u00c2\u00a0 How cute are they!\u00c2\u00a0 I could just see Laurel Cade prancing around this summer with a pair of these flip flops\u00c2\u00a0 and with a button in her hair bow.\u00c2\u00a0 And on Robert Charles’ flag football sports bag!\u00c2\u00a0 Wouldn’t my friends love a monogrammed key chain fob or book mark.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I can see a\u00c2\u00a0refrigerator magnet for Aunt Aileen.\u00c2\u00a0 And more…….<\/p>\n

I was\u00c2\u00a0positively hooked and Bob wanted to get me one for Christmas.\u00c2\u00a0 I asked Betty what size she had.\u00c2\u00a0 “All three,” she replied.\u00c2\u00a0 Wow!<\/p>\n

Then she told me that she has been selling\u00c2\u00a0embroidered buttons\u00c2\u00a0like crazy.\u00c2\u00a0 With this machine and Hope’s designs Betty has turned her passion for machine embroidery into a thriving home-based business.<\/p>\n

My button machine arrived two days before Christmas.\u00c2\u00a0 But, alas, it sits unopened.\u00c2\u00a0 Between my preparations for Sewing at the Beach and tending to 89 year-old Aunt Aileen through two hospital visits and two other crises since Christmas, there has not been a spare moment.<\/p>\n

So\u00c2\u00a0my button machine\u00c2\u00a0waits, calling to me.\u00c2\u00a0 But I have exercised incredible\u00c2\u00a0willpower\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0view it as my upcoming\u00c2\u00a0bonus\u00c2\u00a0for 5 days of teaching in Myrtle Beach.\u00c2\u00a0 I can hardly wait.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ll probably get a speeding ticket on my way home!<\/p>\n

P.S.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0My\u00c2\u00a0machine is\u00c2\u00a0the 1 1\/2″ size, the one Betty says she uses the most.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
