{"id":12182,"date":"2011-04-08T02:37:18","date_gmt":"2011-04-08T06:37:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=12182"},"modified":"2011-05-06T20:06:16","modified_gmt":"2011-05-07T00:06:16","slug":"easter-11-progress-slow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/08\/easter-11-progress-slow\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter &#8217;11 progress&#8230;slow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_12194\" style=\"width: 531px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11garagerosescrop.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12194\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-12194 \" title=\"Easter11 progress slow garagerosescrop\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11garagerosescrop-1024x882.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"521\" height=\"515\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12194\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The antique Tausendchon rose climber was grown from a cutting I rooted four years ago.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This has been a spectacular Florida spring.\u00c2\u00a0 The weather has been perfect for gardening and I can hardly keep myself inside.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0All\u00c2\u00a050\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0rose bushes\u00c2\u00a0are in full bloom and I feel compelled to deadhead spent\u00c2\u00a0blossoms, snip here and\u00c2\u00a0 there\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0cut bouquets for in the house.\u00c2\u00a0 I really enjoy tending my roses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">After a little gardening, I spent the better part of the day doing Aunt Aileen&#8217;s laundry and ironing, visiting her and taking care of some administrative matters with the nursing home.\u00c2\u00a0 The previous two fun filled, but exhausting, days with Alastair left me chomping at the bit to get back to Laurel&#8217;s Easter dress.\u00c2\u00a0 But\u00c2\u00a0that had to wait until after dinner and progress is slow.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12183\" title=\"Easter11progress slow sleeve\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11progress-1024x602.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"511\" height=\"387\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The sleeves are inserted with entredeux, a detail\u00c2\u00a0I have always\u00c2\u00a0liked to include on heirloom garments.\u00c2\u00a0 And the buttonholes are stitched, separated with tiny\u00c2\u00a0floral sprigs\u00c2\u00a0of embroidery.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0They were done in the hoop on my Brother Innovis 4500D.\u00c2\u00a0 Embroidery machines make buttonholes so quick and easy.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_12758\" style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/zEaster11progresspuffscanrotated.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12758\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-12758 \" title=\"zEaster11progress slow puffscanrotated\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/zEaster11progresspuffscanrotated-1024x481.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The puffing band needs one more pass of scotch tape stitch on the right side--my to-do for tomorrow.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The puffing strips were cut and joined two\u00c2\u00a0days ago, but the actual puffing is taking forever.\u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s been some time since I&#8217;ve made puffing.\u00c2\u00a0 I love the look but always forget just how long it takes.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0It\u00c2\u00a0 takes\u00c2\u00a0ten passes!!!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12190\" title=\"Easter11progress slow buttonholes\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11progressbuttonholes-493x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"493\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11progressbuttonholes-493x1024.jpg 493w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11progressbuttonholes-144x300.jpg 144w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 493px) 100vw, 493px\" \/>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">That&#8217;s\u00c2\u00a0four\u00c2\u00a0 rows of\u00c2\u00a0 gathering stitches along the 140&#8243; flat strip, two 72&#8243; rows of stitching in the entredeux ditch, two 72&#8243; rows of roll and whip over the raw edges and two 72&#8243; rows of scotch tape stitching to keep the entredeux holes open and away from the rolled and whipped seam.\u00c2\u00a0 And the stitching is the fastest task.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11garagerosesLspray.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12211\" title=\"Easter11 progress slow garagerosesLspray\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11garagerosesLspray-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"373\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It took what seemed like\u00c2\u00a0an eternity\u00c2\u00a0to distribute the gathers before attaching the entredeux.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0As you can see from this scan, I didn&#8217;t spend nearly enough time getting the gathers even, but time marches on.\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11GaragerosesRspray.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12223\" title=\"Easter11progress slow GaragerosesRspray\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Easter11GaragerosesRspray-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"646\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last pass, the scotch tape stitch on the right side, is not yet finished but I am calling it a day.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0And still there are\u00c2\u00a0two pairs of shorts, two shirts (for Robert and Alastair) and Laurel&#8217;s slip to make in the next 15 days.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 It looks like \u00c2\u00a0the seedlings that have sprouted up under my huge oakleaf hydrangea will have to wait to be transplanted until after Easter.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you all are making good progress with your Easter projects.\u00c2\u00a0 If you are short of time, I\u00c2\u00a0suggest you skip puffing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00c2\u00a0 This has been a spectacular Florida spring.\u00c2\u00a0 The weather has been perfect for gardening and I can hardly keep myself inside.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0All\u00c2\u00a050\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0rose bushes\u00c2\u00a0are in full bloom and I feel compelled to deadhead spent\u00c2\u00a0blossoms, snip here and\u00c2\u00a0 there\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0cut bouquets for in &hellip;
