{"id":13229,"date":"2011-05-12T23:57:20","date_gmt":"2011-05-13T03:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=13229"},"modified":"2015-01-21T22:00:23","modified_gmt":"2015-01-22T03:00:23","slug":"bishop-neckline-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/12\/bishop-neckline-treatment\/","title":{"rendered":"Bishop Neckline Treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/BishopnecklinegownwholeREfixed1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33487\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/BishopnecklinegownwholeREfixed1.jpg\" alt=\"L gown\" width=\"446\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/BishopnecklinegownwholeREfixed1.jpg 446w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/BishopnecklinegownwholeREfixed1-209x300.jpg 209w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Often when\u00c2\u00a0talking with students,\u00c2\u00a0I find the discussion turns to frustration with\u00c2\u00a0applying bias binding to a bishop neckline.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00c2\u00a0think the secret to success is practice, but I have experimented with an alternate finish that might be helpful to some.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always been partial to nightgowns for girls&#8217; sleepwear and\u00c2\u00a0the bishop is my personal style of choice.\u00c2\u00a0Rebecca wore smocked bishop nighties until she went to college, so I had already come up with some time saving techniques.\u00c2\u00a0 By employing\u00c2\u00a0 them occasionally, I was able to keep Rebecca&#8217;s nightgown drawer well stocked. \u00c2\u00a0 Of course, some of the classic styling is lost, but still,\u00c2\u00a0a smocked nightgown is a smocked nightgown.\u00c2\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I have to be upfront about this garment&#8211;it is easy care, from the fabric to the not too horrible synthetic trims.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Bishopneckoinesleeve1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33488\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Bishopneckoinesleeve1.jpg\" alt=\"Bishopneckoinesleeve\" width=\"458\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Bishopneckoinesleeve1.jpg 458w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Bishopneckoinesleeve1-214x300.jpg 214w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One time saver is to leave the sleeves unsmocked.\u00c2\u00a0Loose and wide, they are comfortable and fit longer than a traditionally smocked sleeve.\u00c2\u00a0 The bottom edge is trimmed with beading and 1\/8&#8243; satin ribbon.
