Laurel’s 4th birthday dress<\/p><\/div>\n

When Laurel hit her Princess phase at four, she chose Minnie Mouse as the theme for her birthday dress and party.\u00c2\u00a0 Of course, I made a matching outfit for Robert.<\/p>\n

\n

The children have needed Disney outfits since their first trip to the Magic Kingdom 2 years ago. Even though we live little more than an hour from DisneyWorld, we can’t seem to get enough of it.<\/p>\n

Seeing the wonder in the eyes of\u00c2\u00a0these \u00c2\u00a0two little grandchildren as we ride through It’s a Small World<\/em> makes me believe in magic.\u00c2\u00a0 And it restores me to my childhood, at least for the duration of the ride.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s true what they say\u00c2\u00a0about \u00c2\u00a0grandchildren keeping you young–at least at heart.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0Custom made\u00c2\u00a0Disney clothes for the\u00c2\u00a0adventure helps build their excitement.\u00c2\u00a0 Not that it needs building!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 But the attention the children\u00c2\u00a0get from the characters just reinterates their Nana’s\u00c2\u00a0message, “You are special.”<\/p>\n

Robert\u00c2\u00a0has yet to warm up to the idea of a phot- op hug from Mickey.\u00c2\u00a0 But they were both willing to sidle up to a a painting of Pooh.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Both Laurel’s A-line Minnie dress and Robert’s little Jon-Jon suit\u00c2\u00a0are made from the patterns in Martha Pullen’s book, Martha’s\u00c2\u00a0Favorite Appliques<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Both are made of Swiss pique and pima cotton black gingham check.\u00c2\u00a0 They are fully lined and so easy to make.<\/p>\n

Laurel’s 4th birthday dress was made from\u00c2\u00a0Hanna’s Sundress<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 by Collars, Etc.\u00c2\u00a0also of Swiss pique.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Twice I have\u00c2\u00a0made this\u00c2\u00a0comfortable pattern which can be smocked or not.\u00c2\u00a0 Both dresses are favorites of Laurel’s.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Under the arm is a casing for elastic to make the fit comfortable and long lasting.<\/p>\n
