Our\u00c2\u00a0beautiful grandson Alastair is 6 months old now.\u00c2\u00a0His family waited 43 weeks before demanding his appearance.
\nBut now that he’s here, he\u00c2\u00a0seems pleased as punch to be sitting up in the precious little chair which was handmade for him by his\u00c2\u00a0Uncle Doug.<\/p>\n

We all enjoy seeing him positioned differently from his\u00c2\u00a0younger pose–flat on his back, hands up,\u00c2\u00a0mouthing the words, “I\u00c2\u00a0 surrender!” (See previous posts, duck bubble\u00c2\u00a0<\/a> and Nivia diaper set<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The busier I get, the more I rely on the ready to smock garments.\u00c2\u00a0 Like her mother, my daughter Rebecca is very partial to monograms, so again I used Ellen McCarn’s monogram leaflet for the lettering.\u00c2\u00a0 The rest is just made up.<\/p>\n

The first monogrammed bubble<\/a> I smocked for him was made before his parents had decided on his full name.\u00c2\u00a0 So that garment sported a single letter, C, for his surname.<\/p>\n

Now, his full monogram is smocked into a 9 month ready-to-smock bubble.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0As with\u00c2\u00a0his first monogram\u00c2\u00a0bubble, I wanted to balance out the smocking with something more.\u00c2\u00a0 I finally decided on\u00c2\u00a0a handworked running stitch that\u00c2\u00a0trails around the piped collar and cuffs.<\/p>\n

Now a robust 18 lbs and 27″ long, it’s likely that he will outgrow this outfit soon.\u00c2\u00a0 I’d better get started on the next size.\u00c2\u00a0 His mother doesn’t seem to be tiring of the garment style or smocked monogram.<\/p>\n
