{"id":14920,"date":"2011-06-04T06:32:27","date_gmt":"2011-06-04T10:32:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=14920"},"modified":"2015-05-26T13:02:00","modified_gmt":"2015-05-26T17:02:00","slug":"vintage-needlework-mags-for-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/04\/vintage-needlework-mags-for-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"Look at Antique Needlework Mags"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do you know of \u00c2\u00a0a 12-step program that\u00c2\u00a0can help me?\u00c2\u00a0 My name is Janice and I am a Woman of Excess&#8212;I eat too much, drive too fast, buy too much fabric and collect with the zeal and regularity\u00c2\u00a0of a garbage man.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0My recently recurring nightmare about being invited\u00c2\u00a0to appear on the tv show\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;Hoarders&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0has motivated me to begin thinning out my extensive collections, starting with these antique needlework magazines.<\/p>\n<div>The first batch is detailed in the following post.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0More will be\u00c2\u00a0listed as I find the time to\u00c2\u00a0itemize them\u00c2\u00a0and the\u00c2\u00a0willpower to part with them.\u00c2\u00a0 They are antique by virtue of my personal\u00c2\u00a0definition&#8211;older than me.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Each magazine provides immeasurable information, inspiration and entertainment.\u00c2\u00a0 The articles and projects \u00c2\u00a0are often classic, thus timely, and sometimes not.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>For example, I doubt this would be a popular bazaar item.\u00c2\u00a0 As seen in a 1936 article entitled<em> Lazy Days and Busy Days<\/em> this cleaning set is highly recommended. How would you like this for Mother&#8217;s Day?\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0If looking at this picture is supposed to make me want to roll up my sleeves and\u00c2\u00a0get down and dirty with a rag and a bucket of soapy water, it missed its mark.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/scan00012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"scan0001\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/scan00012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"790\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The magazine\u00c2\u00a0covers are so charming.\u00c2\u00a0 I had big plans tophoto transfer some of these to fabric and embellish them with embroidery and\/or quilting.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Wisteria Lesson, as seen in the post by that name,\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=2655\">http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=2655<\/a> is\u00c2\u00a0the only one I actually did.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0But still I hope that some day&#8230;.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/376laceshopSOLD1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"37~6laceshopSOLD\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/376laceshopSOLD1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"436\" height=\"561\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>This is one of my favorites.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I love reading the ads for nutrition boosters, newfangled\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;fireless cookstoves&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 and cleaning products.\u00c2\u00a0 Here&#8217;s an interesting one:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Fairy-Soap1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fairy Soap\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Fairy-Soap1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"931\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl>\u00c2\u00a0<\/dl>\n<dl>I have it on good authority that none of \u00c2\u00a0the University of Florida Gator Boys\u00c2\u00a0 use this product&#8211;not in fraternity houses, not in dorms, not in off-campus housing.<\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div>The historical\u00c2\u00a0perspective that can be gleaned from the articles with regard to\u00c2\u00a0 the progression of needlework is enlightening to\u00c2\u00a0serious students of needlework.
