What a grand time we are having here in the mountains with our grandchildren, Robert and Laurel!\u00c2\u00a0 Today was their mother’s birthday so\u00c2\u00a0 after breakfast they put on a little skit in honor of\u00c2\u00a0 the occasion. Laurel,7, \u00c2\u00a0had carefully selected her “My Mom Rocks” tee shirt for the day.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wearing this shirt, she played the role of\u00c2\u00a0 Shelly’s mother, Janine, and had a pillow tucked under her little tee shirt.\u00c2\u00a0 With an amazingly spot on 9-months pregnant waddle, she came out from the hall wailing, “I’m sooo tired of being pregnant.\u00c2\u00a0 I can’t wait for this baby to be born!”<\/p>\n

Robert, 5, \u00c2\u00a0played the part of Shelly’s father, Tom,who hustled along behind her, offering these comforting words.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0“Soon, Darling,\u00c2\u00a0 soon.\u00c2\u00a0 You will be holding our baby in your arms soon.”<\/p>\n

Laurel\/Janine snapped back, “I want to be holding my belly in again soon!”\u00c2\u00a0 Then she cried out, “The baby is coming!\u00c2\u00a0 It’s time!\u00c2\u00a0 It’s time!\u00c2\u00a0 It’s June 29!”<\/p>\n

She pulled out the pillow and snatched up her AG Kit doll, swaddled in Laurel’s bedtime blankie.<\/p>\n

The young couple cooed over their beautiful baby daughter and predicted that she would be smart and kind and beautiful and sometimes a little bit cranky (a trait rarely displayed but frequently bemoaned by Shelly).\u00c2\u00a0 And she would be a wonderful mother to her beautiful children.\u00c2\u00a0 Then they shouted “Happy Birthday, Mama!” and\u00c2\u00a0hugged her.<\/p>\n

The audience, consisting of Mama Shelly, Daddy Ryan and Granddad Bob applauded enthusiastically while the cast basked in the glow of praise.\u00c2\u00a0 It was such fun!<\/p>\n

Then they were off to the\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0trout farm\u00c2\u00a0to catch\u00c2\u00a0their first fish.\u00c2\u00a0 For dinner tonight we had the delicious rainbow trout they\u00c2\u00a0reeled in\u00c2\u00a0at the trout farm.\u00c2\u00a0 Success was guaranteed—it was like fishing in a barrel.\u00c2\u00a0 But they loved it.<\/p>\n

Later, Laurel and Nature Girl Shelly hiked to the top of Seven Devils Mountain.\u00c2\u00a0 For a good bit of the climb, there were no trails so they “bushwhacked” their way through the dense undergrowth and over rugged, rocky terrain.<\/p>\n

So many things are done for grandchildren in hopes of creating wonderful, lasting memories for them.\u00c2\u00a0 But if Robert and Laurel don’t remember these special days, Bob and I certainly will.\u00c2\u00a0 ~~~~~~~~~~~<\/p>\n

New Laces for Sale<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

These edgings are all very nice.\u00c2\u00a0 Before I left home last week, I loaded the photos below so I could post them for sale while I was here in North Carolina.\u00c2\u00a0 In my haste, I failed to record the available yardage.\u00c2\u00a0 So the amounts indicated are just estimates, which I will correct with accurate measurements when I get home.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m sorry for any inconvenience this causes you.<\/p>\n
