This hand embroidered advice was stitched on linen in 1976 by a dear lady in our church.\u00c2\u00a0 More than 10 years ago, she donated it to the holiday bazaar and I purchased it.\u00c2\u00a0 Now it\u00c2\u00a0hangs in our cabin in the mountains.<\/p>\n

It is always one of the first things I notice.\u00c2\u00a0 As I unpack, I\u00c2\u00a0invariably recall memories of tiny Marian, a sweet,\u00c2\u00a0busy,\u00c2\u00a0quiet, strong pillar of the church.<\/p>\n

She\u00c2\u00a0was a very accomplished needleworker, causing me to seek out\u00c2\u00a0her bazaar contributions.\u00c2\u00a0Now, while she is in heaven, probably stitching exquisite garments for the angels, this embroidery\u00c2\u00a0is left as\u00c2\u00a0a part of her legacy- wise counsel\u00c2\u00a0and beauty, already framed.<\/p>\n

"Count your age.." hanging on the wall.<\/p><\/div>\n

Most of us, I suspect, harbor quiet hope that some of our needlework\u00c2\u00a0will outlast us, to be enjoyed and appreciated after we are gone.<\/p>\n

I love Judy Collins’ rendition of the Beatles\u00c2\u00a0song, “In My Life.”\u00c2\u00a0 She sings, “Though I know I’ll never lose affection for people and\u00c2\u00a0things that went before, \u00c2\u00a0I know I’ll often stop and think about them…..”<\/p>\n

Certainly, I often stop and think about people and things that went before.\u00c2\u00a0 And when I gaze at this embroidery, I think about Marian.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope someday\u00c2\u00a0one or two of my projects\u00c2\u00a0 will cause someone to think about me.<\/p>\n
