What a thoughtful, personal gift.\u00c2\u00a0 I love it.<\/p>\n<p>The Loralie doll pin cushion includes many of my personal features.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 It reminds me of the American Girls &#8220;Me&#8221; doll, created with specially selected features to mimic those of a specific child.<\/p>\n<p>When I sew and when I teach, I always have my half-eye glasses and embroidery scissors hanging around my neck.\u00c2\u00a0 The doll&#8217;s brown eyes, just like mine, peer over similar glasses above the scissors hanging around the neck.\u00c2\u00a0 Of course, full of pins, it looks like a voodoo doll, but I ignore the suggestion.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>My little Loralie doll is rife with details.\u00c2\u00a0 The crazy patch body is embellished with decorative stitches and a monogram.\u00c2\u00a0 A lace collar sports a red ribbon rose.\u00c2\u00a0 And don&#8217;t you just love the hair and measuring tape bow?\u00c2\u00a0 FYI, I stay clear of hair bows as I am way too old for flirty accessory, but it&#8217;s cute on the doll.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollhairbow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16672\" title=\"LoralieDollhairbow\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollhairbow.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"666\" height=\"899\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollhairbow.jpg 666w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollhairbow-222x300.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 666px) 100vw, 666px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The earrings are really darling&#8211;tiny wooden thread spools wound with metallic thread and elongated with a bead.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollearring.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16675\" title=\"LoralieDollearring\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollearring.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"758\" height=\"1265\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollearring.jpg 758w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollearring-179x300.jpg 179w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LoralieDollearring-613x1024.jpg 613w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 758px) 100vw, 758px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This student spent a good bit of her sewing time translating my instructions for the ladies in class who did not speak English.\u00c2\u00a0 After bringing their questions to me and translating the answers, she would rush back to her machine and catch up with those who had been sewing all along.\u00c2\u00a0 She sewed beautifully and quickly.<\/p>\n<p>What a dear remembrance this is of the generous spirit and unforgettable friends I made in beautiful Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How cute is this?\u00c2\u00a0 A precious student in Puerto Rico made this\u00c2\u00a0 pendant pin cushion after a long day of sewing and presented it to me on the last day of class.
