Another September Saturday, another college football game.\u00c2\u00a0 Yeah!!!\u00c2\u00a0 Some\u00c2\u00a0 teams are celebrating, some looking forward to redemption next week.<\/p>\n

After Florida’s very disappointing last season, we are celebrating the win in the first SEC game of the season:\u00c2\u00a0 Florida Gators 33–Tennessee Volunteers 23.<\/p>\n

I love the ability to combine my love of college football with my love of sewing.\u00c2\u00a0 In an earlier post, I mentioned that I was embroidering new game day shirts for my three grandchildren. I don’t have a photo of Alastair, who lives on the other side of the state, but here are the other two.<\/p>\n

Robert’s shirt is a repeat of last year’s model, a simple Gator Boy design.<\/p>\n

Laurel was up for something new so I followed a new trend in college sports wear for girls and women. This style\u00c2\u00a0 identifies the team only by name or mascot,\u00c2\u00a0 not by team colors.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead, pink and gray is used, usually the heather gray you see on sweatshirts or athletic tees.<\/p>\n

This frame is built into my Brother Duetta, one of many that can be sized to fill each from from 4 x 4" to 7 x 12".<\/p><\/div>\n

I’m not crazy about the idea.\u00c2\u00a0 It seems a rather fluffy expression of a fan’s team support.\u00c2\u00a0 But after 14 years stitching Gator gear, I am a little tired of embroidering in orange and blue.\u00c2\u00a0 And of course, I’m\u00c2\u00a0 happy that Laurel likes this feminine look. So pink and gray (silver) it is.<\/p>\n

Like most seven year olds, Laurel loves pink and bling so the combination of pink, silver metallic and\u00c2\u00a0 hot fix gems pleased her enormously.\u00c2\u00a0 The\u00c2\u00a0 7-8 shirt is really too big for her, especially with the plunging neckline.\u00c2\u00a0 I should have tried it on her before it was embroidered. Robert was just happy to have a new Gator shirt that fit him.<\/p>\n

Tuck your shirt in! Both of you!<\/p><\/div>\n

Well, it almost fit him.\u00c2\u00a0 He is one skinny kid.\u00c2\u00a0 I think this 6 year-old will get two years out of this size 5 shirt.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 If he has any future in the sport beyond flag football, it will be as a wide receiver or water boy.<\/p>\n
