The stores are chock full of home dec items, the embroidery sites are brimming with new autumn designs and the department store displays show garments in brilliant golds, browns and orange.<\/p>\n<p>In central Florida, fall brings cooler temperatures, ripening citrus, and the county fair.\u00c2\u00a0 I love them all, but my favorite is the show put on by the romantic Golden Rain Trees.\u00c2\u00a0 As a child, I watched Elizabeth Taylor in the movie, Raintree County, and fantasized about someday seeing such a tree.<\/p>\n<p>All these years, I&#8217;ve remembered the theme song, sung by Nat King Cole.<iframe width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_gDRuLsUfpU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\u00c2\u00a0 I find myself humming it\u00c2\u00a0 when the golden showers begin.\u00c2\u00a0 The petals and pollen\u00c2\u00a0 cover the grass like a yellow carpet and are followed by vibrant rust colored seed pods in huge clusters.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I wish I had taken some pictures for this post, but if you are interested,\u00c2\u00a0 this brief video <iframe width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/h2EmvIOfNws?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe> at least shows the final stages of the progressive bloom. It is a beautiful tree.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/fall-stitchingF-10-17-2011-10-46-19-PM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18842\" title=\"fall stitchingF \" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/fall-stitchingF-10-17-2011-10-46-19-PM-e1318911586173.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"1280\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/fall-stitchingF-10-17-2011-10-46-19-PM-e1318911586173.jpg 960w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/fall-stitchingF-10-17-2011-10-46-19-PM-e1318911586173-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/fall-stitchingF-10-17-2011-10-46-19-PM-e1318911586173-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the Golden Rain Trees are in bloom, fall is on its way.\u00c2\u00a0 I relish pulling out the storage bin marked &#8220;fall&#8221; and decorating for the season.\u00c2\u00a0 Then, of course, there is September sewing.<\/p>\n<p>The fluffy brown microfleece throw was a quick project, using this month&#8217;s design from <em>Martha Pullen&#8217;s Embroidery Club<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 The single spray was copied, flipped and rotated in PE-Design to create the &#8220;F&#8221; monogram. Below sits a &#8220;swirly&#8221; design from Bunnycup&#8217;s<em> Swirly Autumn 2.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I had to laugh when my cold-natured DIL snuggled under the throw as we were watching the sad, bad Gator\/LSU football game.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure if she were shuddering about the slaughter on the field or if the newly cool 72 degree temperature gave her a chill.\u00c2\u00a0 Florida does that to you.\u00c2\u00a0 But so do this year&#8217;s Gators.<\/p>\n<p>Embroidered fingertip towels are an easy way to add a seasonal touch to a bathroom.\u00c2\u00a0 The &#8220;Happy Fall&#8221; wreath is from Dakota Collectibles&#8217; <em>Fall Festivities<\/em> collection. The leaves and acorn design are a part of Anita Goodesign&#8217;s <em>Autumn Harvest 2<\/em> set.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/florida-fall-cornucopia-10-17-2011-10-58-38-PM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t resist showing off some of my fall decorations and seasonal textiles.\u00c2\u00a0 The cornucopia on my dining room table sits on a pretty hand embroidered, hemstitched runner that I got for a song at Tuesday Morning.\u00c2\u00a0 The linen is a natural, pale ecru.\u00c2\u00a0 The colors just perfect for fall.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/florida-fall-runner-close-10-17-2011-11-00-25-PM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The embroidery is not fine, but it is well done, in more of a crewel style.\u00c2\u00a0 All this for $10!<\/p>\n<p><a addition is this metal pumpkin.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s not at all the style I normally gravitate to, but I just liked it.\u00c2\u00a0 Next to that is a favorite fall plate.<\/p>\n<p><a
