church bazaars&#8211;never met one I didn&#8217;t like.\u00c2\u00a0 To see such a concentration of women&#8217;s creative efforts is inspiring.\u00c2\u00a0 From baked goods, knitting,\u00c2\u00a0 quilts, crochet and sewing to\u00c2\u00a0 plants and crafts, the variety is enormous.\u00c2\u00a0 The effort put forth for such good purposes is proof positive of the kindness and compassion of women.<\/p>\n<p>Doing my little part for our church bazaar is always such a pleasure.\u00c2\u00a0 I like to drag out unused items and try to make them marketable.\u00c2\u00a0 Then it&#8217;s always fun to try something new.\u00c2\u00a0 This year I did both.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32936\" style=\"width: 644px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a id=\"caption-attachment-32936\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christmas sachet<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve had a supply of these linen cocktail napkins for some time, a dozen with silver embroidery and another dozen with gold.\u00c2\u00a0 Plan A was to use them for our Christmas Eve after-church eggnog and cookies get-together for family and friends.\u00c2\u00a0 But with all the commotion generated by the grandchildren, I just never got around to pulling these out.<\/p>\n<p>Plan B&#8211;with a bit of embroidery and backing pocket made from a scrap of linen, now the napkin is a holiday potpourri.\u00c2\u00a0 Nice for teacher gifts, I thought.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve made several.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32937\" style=\"width: 650px\" id=\"caption-attachment-32937\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">These are pieces from the baby knits for sale at the Janice Ferguson Sews &#8220;Store&#8221;.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Who can&#8217;t use a few layette pieces for baby gifts?\u00c2\u00a0 The hooded towel, wash cloth, cap and bib were all fun to embroider.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/church-bazaar-key-case-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32938\" really excited about the key cases I am making.\u00c2\u00a0 A few days ago, my friend Terri Click came for a visit.\u00c2\u00a0 Her blog, <a title=\"The Thrifty Needle\" href=\"http:\/\/thethriftyneedle.wordpress.com\" target=\"_blank\">The Thrifty Needle<\/a>, is great! \u00c2\u00a0 We had a big time talking, talking sewing, sewing and talking&#8230;&#8230;She has digitized this sweet little key case and sat me down to make one.\u00c2\u00a0 It is made completely in the hoop.\u00c2\u00a0 From start to finish, it takes about 15 minutes!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/church-bazaar-key-case-open1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32939\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/church-bazaar-key-case-open1.jpg\" alt=\"church bazaar key case open\" width=\"296\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fabric is a piece of<a title=\"liberty\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/category\/store\/fabric\/\"> Liberty Tana Lawn,<\/a> more of which is still available at &#8220;A Store&#8221;&#8211;see categories menu at right.
