She had been teaching in Orlando and stopped by my house for a too-brief visit. It seems that visits from sewing friends are always too short, but we made the most of the time we had.\u00c2\u00a0 Mostly, we talked&#8211;about sewing, about life, about sewing and more about sewing.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s great to have a friend who shares your passion for needlework.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She brought me two one-of-a-kind gifts that I treasure. The first is the sweet pincushion\u00c2\u00a0 shown above.\u00c2\u00a0 Old sweaters provided the materials for this!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Terri has many talents, but the making silk purses out of sows&#8217; ears is at the top of the list.\u00c2\u00a0 I like this so much better than a silk purse.\u00c2\u00a0 You would enjoy visiting her <a href=\"http:\/\/thethriftyneedle.wordpress.com\/\">blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The sweater\/pincushion is attached to a felt\u00c2\u00a0 base made from her beloved Big Shot Sizzix die-cutting machine.\u00c2\u00a0 I need to learn more about that!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Terri-apron.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19621\" title=\"Terri apron\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Terri-apron.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Terri-apron.jpg 1280w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Terri-apron-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Terri-apron-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The second gift is a screen printed dishtowel, made long enough to be easily converted into an apron.\u00c2\u00a0 Isn&#8217;t that clever?\u00c2\u00a0 Screen printing is another new skill\u00c2\u00a0 that she is honing.\u00c2\u00a0 The tangerines are the first of this year&#8217;s crop from one of our trees.\u00c2\u00a0 We were so busy talking that we forgot to pack them up for her to take home to South Carolina.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19622\" style=\"width: 760px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/ds1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19622\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19622\" title=\"ds1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/ds1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"507\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/ds1.jpg 750w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/ds1-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19622\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is the Old Spanish Sugar Mill. The water wheel no longer turns but the gears and basic parts are still inside the ancient building.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For breakfast, we went to one of our family&#8217;s favorite haunts, the Old Spanish Sugar Mill located inside the 600 acre DeLeon Springs State Park.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/park-entrance.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19629\" title=\"park entrance\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/park-entrance.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2272\" height=\"1263\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/park-entrance.jpg 2272w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/park-entrance-300x166.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/park-entrance-1024x569.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2272px) 100vw, 2272px\" \/><\/a> Just about 5 minutes from my house, the restaurant is a really unique place for breakfast.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19623\" style=\"width: 298px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/ds_pancake.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19623\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19623\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/ds_pancake.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19623\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I do not know these people. It is just a stock photo I found on-line. This is the table where Terri and I cooked our flapjacks.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Griddles are built into the tables.\u00c2\u00a0 While you flip your own 5-grain or colonial white pancakes,\u00c2\u00a0 alligators and turtles often can be seen sunning themselves on fallen logs in the run.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a nature lover&#8217;s dream.\u00c2\u00a0 But we were so busy talking that I forgot to take a single picture\u00c2\u00a0 during Terri&#8217;s entire visit.
