I arrived just before noon on Thursday, in time for my first class, Madeira Applique’<\/em> with Connie Palmer<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Though I am practiced in the basics of this technique, I knew Connie would have more to offer.\u00c2\u00a0 And, of course, she did.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 A few of the things I learned<\/em> from Connie Palmer in her Madeira Applique’ class:<\/p>\n Mark scalloped borders on hems, collars and quilts quickly and easily in sizes from 5" to 12". Instructions are included with template. In stock Price: $14.99(from MO)<\/p><\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n In response to a student’s question, she also went into her uses and techniques for spaghetti bias, especially as a cathedral window look.\u00c2\u00a0 I might write more about that in a later post but for now, just look at this blouse she made!\u00c2\u00a0 I had forgotten my camera that day, so this was taken with my phone.\u00c2\u00a0 The photo quality is not good, but the blouse is spectacular.<\/p>\n Connie sometimes works a decorative stitch around the bias, such as this simple scallop.<\/p><\/div>\n Next I went to Peggy Dilbone’<\/a>s class,\u00c2\u00a0 You Can Do That with your Serger?<\/em><\/p>\n This is one of Peggy's patterns. Even up close, you would never believe it is serged.<\/p><\/div>\n Not only was it creatively inspiring, but it also convinced me that I can make friends with my serger.\u00c2\u00a0 Almost nothing Peggy makes looks serged!\u00c2\u00a0 It just looks beautifully sewn with the most delicate heirloom techniques.\u00c2\u00a0 A few things I learned<\/em> from Peggy:<\/p>\n NOTE:\u00c2\u00a0 I just received a note from a reader asking for a little more information about bias fold scallops on the sewing machine so she might better understand Peggy’s technique for serger scallops.\u00c2\u00a0 Check out my Delicious Doll Bedding<\/a> post for more details about that.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n
