Since the food was provided free of charge, his free will collection helped defray some of the expense.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Laurel was to wear an heirloom dress, last year&#8217;s <a title=\"Judith Dobson and the Tea Dress\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/21\/judith-dobson-and-the-tea-dress\/\">Easter frock<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Robert would be decked out in dress pants, a matching vest and his signature church accessory, a tie.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Quite the young clothes horse, he even insists on wearing one to the monthly pizza night.\u00c2\u00a0 Laurel carried her doll Kit and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/12\/make-a-girls-pouch-purse\/\">handkerchief purse<\/a> (scroll down the post) to carry her shekels.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32737\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/hanky-purse1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32737\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-32737\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/hanky-purse1.jpg\" alt=\"heavily embroidered Swiss handkerchief\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/hanky-purse1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/hanky-purse1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-32737\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">heavily embroidered Swiss handkerchief<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One year ago, when the dress was finished, it turned out to be too short for the 6 year old.\u00c2\u00a0 So a lace flounce was <a title=\"Saved by the slip!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/17\/saved-by-the-slip\/\">added to the slip<\/a> for more length.<\/p>\n<p>It was no surprise that now, a year later, the dress was once again too short.\u00c2\u00a0 So Saturday night, after a busy day, when the grandchildren were finally bedded down, I dug out the two cards of lace edging and insertion.\u00c2\u00a0 Two more rows of lace were added to the slip.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Then, 20 minutes were spent ironing the Swiss batiste dress and the slip.\u00c2\u00a0 With all the lace edging and shaped insertion, this is a major operation.\u00c2\u00a0 Six year old Robert&#8217;s shirt, pants and vest were pressed and hung, ready to slip on before the rush to church.\u00c2\u00a0 Even though the proportion of the slip flounce to the dress was unbalanced, I knew Laurel and Robert would look so nice!<\/p>\n<p>Regularly, they hear my admonition that going to God&#8217;s house means you should put some effort into your appearance.\u00c2\u00a0 This lecture is usually delivered early Sunday morning as I slick down Robert&#8217;s cowlick. So I was happy to put in the extra time getting their clothes ready.<\/p>\n<p>As I began to shut down the sewing room, I noticed that the dress did not look as crisp as it should.\u00c2\u00a0 I had not used starch and the batiste really needed it.\u00c2\u00a0 So another 20 minutes was spent starching and then pressing the dress.\u00c2\u00a0 Finally, I was off to bed.<\/p>\n<p>The children were up bright and early, eager to get to the marketplace and collect their allotment of golden shekels for purchases.\u00c2\u00a0 That allotment consisted of a handful, &#8220;But come back for more if you need it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shekel1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32738\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shekel1.jpg\" alt=\"shekel\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shekel1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shekel1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What an occasion this is!\u00c2\u00a0 An incredible amount of work goes into the event, which really gives each attendant an understanding of the time and place of Jesus&#8217; Triumphal Entry.\u00c2\u00a0 It is held during the Sunday School hour, between worship services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/entry-RL-Rob1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32739\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/entry-RL-Rob1.jpg\" alt=\"entry RL Rob\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/entry-RL-Rob1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/entry-RL-Rob1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Walls and an archway are built with huge blocks of stained and distressed styrofoam, chinked with Spanish moss.\u00c2\u00a0 The props, foods and layout of the Marketplace made that historical day a personal experience.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, just inside the arch was the young donkey, just as Jesus said it would be.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32740\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/donkey-sign1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32740\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-32740 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/donkey-sign1.jpg\" alt=\"donkey sign\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/donkey-sign1.jpg 480w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/donkey-sign1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-32740\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Notice the sign with its Hebrew lettering. There were so many details like this.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To\u00c2\u00a0 the children&#8217;s delight, there was a farmyard, &#8220;Noah&#8217;s Landing,&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 featuring animals that might have been for sale in such a market place.
