Making these cuties is enjoyable, but I want to make baby clothes!\u00c2\u00a0 My beloved\u00c2\u00a0 Brother Quattro embroiders a speedy 1000 stitches a minute but even so, it takes a lot of time to select the fabrics for applique and trim away the excess.\u00c2\u00a0 Fortunately, a dear lady at church has volunteered to turn and stuff the toys, so it should go more quickly now.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been really, really busy lately,\u00c2\u00a0 with all Saturday spent on the Gator football game 90 miles away, all day Sunday with church and a family get together at our home, and the better part of\u00c2\u00a0 Labor Day Monday cooking for that evening&#8217;s dinner with the <a title=\"PGM-PlayGroup Mamas\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/18\/pgm-playgroup-mamas\/\">PlayGroup Mamas<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I did manage to smock a few rows on the pique diaper shirt that was started some time ago, but other than that and the stuffed toys, not much has been accomplished in the sewing room.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>But I have been checking the comments.\u00c2\u00a0 Virginia wrote that she is trying to locate the <strong>Little Sunday Undies<\/strong> pattern in small size.\u00c2\u00a0 This is a <em>Little Sunday Dresses<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 pattern. \u00c2\u00a0 If you have one that you are willing to part with, please leave a comment or e-mail me at NCcabin@aol.com and I will get you and Virginia together.\u00c2\u00a0 The pattern envelope looks like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Little-Sunday-undies2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24332\" title=\"Little Sunday undies2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Little-Sunday-undies2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"859\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Little-Sunday-undies2.jpg 570w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Little-Sunday-undies2-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I made the sweet little slip when Rebecca was about 5 so I only have the large size.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong><\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 Virginia found the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gingersnapsdesigns.com\/baby.html\"><em>Ginger Snaps<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 Double Seat Panty <\/a>\u00c2\u00a0pattern that is nearly identical.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 She is monogramming a pair right now.<\/p>\n<p>Our PlayGroup Mamas dinner, as usual, was wonderful&#8211;great food and 8 dear friends of 35 years, still enjoying and supporting one another through good times and bad.\u00c2\u00a0 We get together for dinner every other Monday. These women have been a constant blessing in my life.<\/p>\n<p>We met at Judy&#8217;s house where her orange crusted chicken was fabulous.\u00c2\u00a0 I brought two dishes, one as my contribution and one to cover for a PlayGroup Mama who is working day and night moving her mother into a retirement community.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 One dish was a lemon pound cake with a tasty lemon glaze.<\/p>\n<p>The other was an Asian &#8220;oddball&#8221; salad that was a big hit.\u00c2\u00a0 How it came to be known as oddball is a cute little story.\u00c2\u00a0 When my son-in-law&#8217;s Aunt Jeannette brought this salad to a family dinner, she was packing up leftovers for her widower father.\u00c2\u00a0 He said he&#8217;d like some of everything but just skip that oddball salad.\u00c2\u00a0 In the family, it has never been called anything but oddball ever since.\u00c2\u00a0 The recipe is below.<\/p>\n<p>Surely, in the next day or two I can finish up these toddler toys and move on to more creative projects.\u00c2\u00a0 Three year-old Alastair desperately wants an Incredibles Super Suit. With him and his parents due to arrive Thurs. night for a long weekend, I&#8217;ve got to get on that.\u00c2\u00a0 Other projects are stacked up, but I am going to stitch baby things for a while.\u00c2\u00a0 I promise a better post next time.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Oddball Salad I<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"color: black; font-family: arial; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: black; font-family: arial; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: black; font-family: arial; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: black; font-family: arial; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: black; font-family: arial; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em><strong>ngredients<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n1 large Napa cabbage<br \/>\n5 green onions<br \/>\n2 pouches of Ramen noodles (remove flavor packets and discard)<br \/>\n1\/4 to 1\/2 cup sliced or slivered almonds<br \/>\n1\/4 cup sesame seeds<br \/>\n1\/4 cup sugar<br \/>\n1\/4 cup canola oil<br \/>\n1\/4 cup rice vinegar<br \/>\n2 tablespoons soy sauce<br \/>\n2-4 tablespoons butter<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Preparation:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n1.\u00c2\u00a0 Saute Ramen noodles in the butter for a few minutes.\u00c2\u00a0 When they start to brown, add the sesame seeds and almonds.\u00c2\u00a0 Once all bits are sauteed, set aside or put in fridge to chill.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00c2\u00a0 Vigorously mix together sugar, soy sauce, oil and vinegar.\u00c2\u00a0 Set aside.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00c2\u00a0 Chop Napa cabbage finely.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s best to place it on its side and slice as thinly as you can at a 90 degree angle from the cabbage.\u00c2\u00a0 Chop green onions very thin and mix the two together.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00c2\u00a0 Add noodle mix and sauce.\u00c2\u00a0 Toss.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00c2\u00a0 Serve immediately.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am STILL making those little stuffed toys for Operation Christmas Child.\u00c2\u00a0 Thirty-nine are finished with eleven still to go.
