The leopard kittens are from Amazing Designs Morehead 7,<em> Baby Animals Two by Two 2.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>Aren&#8217;t they just adorable?<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/kits-AD-2x21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33588\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/kits-AD-2x21.jpg\" alt=\"kits-AD-2x2\" width=\"640\" height=\"527\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/kits-AD-2x21.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/kits-AD-2x21-300x247.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00c2\u00a0It has been too long since I sewed anything for Laurel.\u00c2\u00a0 With this out of the way, I&#8217;m back to baby sewing.\u00c2\u00a0 Hurrah!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This weekend we celebrated my dear husband&#8217;s birthday.\u00c2\u00a0 Both children and their families were here and we had a grand time.\u00c2\u00a0 Rebecca spotted this ruffled skirt in the sewing room and commented, &#8220;You would NEVER have let me wear something like that!!!\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s borderline Hoochie Mama!&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Times have changed, I told her.\u00c2\u00a0 But she loved it.\u00c2\u00a0 There is a lot of fabric left over, making me wonder if I might make\u00c2\u00a0 something for Baby Girl&#8211;after I make all the smocked and heirloom sewn daygowns, of course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The little guy had called earlier in the week begging me to make him a Super Suit, as seen on The Incredibles.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead, I found one on-line and had it delivered 2nd day so it would arrive his first day here.\u00c2\u00a0 He was thrilled and so was I.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_33589\" style=\"width: 401px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/A-Incredible1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33589\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-33589 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/A-Incredible1.jpg\" alt=\"A-Incredible\" width=\"391\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/A-Incredible1.jpg 391w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/A-Incredible1-183x300.jpg 183w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-33589\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Superhero Alastair The Incredible, backed up by his canine companion Rastus<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That saved a lot of time and bought me a lot of hugs and kisses!\u00c2\u00a0 He wore it all three days he was here&#8211;to the grocery store with Granddad, playing in the sandbox and even taking his naps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/R-n-A-shop1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33590\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/R-n-A-shop1.jpg\" alt=\"R-n-A-shop\" width=\"585\" height=\"633\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/R-n-A-shop1.jpg 585w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/R-n-A-shop1-277x300.jpg 277w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I squeezed in time to make 22 cot covers for Alastair&#8217;s preschool class.\u00c2\u00a0 <em>(See<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/09\/gkid-stuff-and-preschoolers-cot-sheet-pattern\/\">tutorial)\u00c2\u00a0<\/a> Did you know that the law requires preschools to provide cots for children&#8217;s rest time?\u00c2\u00a0 And each cot requires a sheet of some kind.\u00c2\u00a0 When Alastair brought home his nasty, slightly-better-than-cheesecloth sheet (commercially made) to be laundered, his mother asked the teacher if Alastair could bring his own personal sheet which his grandmother (that&#8217;s me) would make for him.\u00c2\u00a0 Rebecca, like her mother, is a bit of a textile snob and sleeps best on pima cotton.\u00c2\u00a0 The teacher&#8217;s reply was a request to have his sewing grandmother make cot covers for the entire class.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I was happy to do this, as it would meet the parental requirement to volunteer for 10 hours or pay $300.\u00c2\u00a0 Each cover was 24&#8243;\u00c2\u00a0 x\u00c2\u00a0 48&#8243;, serged on all four sides.\u00c2\u00a0 The corners were\u00c2\u00a0 folded under and stitched through\u00c2\u00a0 an 8&#8243; elastic loop, like many mattress pads.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/MMLilCowboy121.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33591\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/MMLilCowboy121.jpg\" alt=\"MMLilCowboy12\" width=\"389\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/MMLilCowboy121.jpg 389w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/MMLilCowboy121-182x300.jpg 182w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 389px) 100vw, 389px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I dug into my stash and found some darling Michael Miller prints in the Dick and Jane style, with cowboys, firemen and train engineers.\u00c2\u00a0 All the sheets used two fabrics, one for the body and the other for a border across the top.\u00c2\u00a0 I used the print in one place or another with a coordinating cotton gingham.\u00c2\u00a0 They really were cute and felt so much better than the cheesecloth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now, I&#8217;m off to embroider a bassinette skirt with lots of lambs.\u00c2\u00a0 What are you sewing?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">P.S.\u00c2\u00a0 Have you seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BrotherSews?ref=ts\">Brother Sews Facebook<\/a> page?<br \/>\n&#8220;Like&#8221;
