Getting back from the hospital didn’t mean getting back to sewing.\u00c2\u00a0 Until two days ago, I was restricted from even press the foot pedal on my sewing machine!\u00c2\u00a0 But now I’m really back to my sewing room which features stacks of projects in various stages of readiness.<\/p>\n

Halloween is just around the corner so these tee shirts were embroidered for the grandsons, one orange, one black.\u00c2\u00a0 The cute design is from JuJu Designs<\/a> #444 \u00c2\u00a0Jumbo Halloween Sampler<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 (Wow!\u00c2\u00a0 I just checked and this collection and all of her others are now on sale for $6!)<\/strong><\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 It was very interesting to stitch out, as the sequence, to my surprise, included a reverse applique’ sort of technique midstream.\u00c2\u00a0 I had to study the design in BuzzEdit to get a grip on what and why.<\/p>\n

The perfect background fabric, stars and bats, was left over from Alastair’s Harry Potter quilt<\/a> and bumper pads<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 But it is applied after the pumpkins and cat, leaving outline stitches for those design elements so the background could be cut away.<\/p>\n

When I was selecting fabrics for the applique, it occurred to me that it would be fun to have a see-through ghost.\u00c2\u00a0 So I used a scrap of organdy left over from Laurel’s Christmas <\/a>collar.\u00c2\u00a0 Can you see through to the stars in the background? Do you save all your scraps like I do?\u00c2\u00a0 Especially for applique’, they come in handy.<\/p>\n
