In order for that to happen, we scheduled our festivities for Wednesday.\u00c2\u00a0 That allowed for dinner with their in-laws.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a lonnnnnnng time since I&#8217;ve posted, for no other reason than busy, busy, busy-ness.\u00c2\u00a0 A lot of time has been spent with dear friends who are dealing with heartbreaking and life-threatening health hardships.\u00c2\u00a0 These continue even now.\u00c2\u00a0 High on our Thankful-For List is good health.\u00c2\u00a0 I am reminded yet again that sewing is not the most important task on my daily to-do list.\u00c2\u00a0 But it&#8217;s still near the top.<\/p>\n<p>I have sewn a little and finally finished smocking the <a title=\"So sad and So sweet\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/31\/so-sad-and-so-sweet\/\">striped Swiss dot daygown <\/a>which was started some time ago.\u00c2\u00a0 Just last night, I pleated up a matching bonnet so that and a pair of pink knitted booties will complete\u00c2\u00a0 this little outfit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/gown-all1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31939 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/gown-all1.jpg\" alt=\"gown all\" width=\"573\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/gown-all1.jpg 573w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/gown-all1-268x300.jpg 268w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 573px) 100vw, 573px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have to say again that this is one of the most luscious fabrics I have ever handled.\u00c2\u00a0 And now I&#8217;m beginning to wonder about the fiber content, as it seems to be nearly wrinkle free.\u00c2\u00a0 That would be a real bonus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/yoke-002-xx.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31943 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/yoke-002-xx.jpg\" alt=\"yoke-002 xx\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/yoke-002-xx.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/yoke-002-xx-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These photos have given me fits as I&#8217;ve tried to adjust them to reflect the true colors.\u00c2\u00a0 Trust me, the pink is as soft as baby&#8217;s cheeks and the smocking is slightly darker.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sleeve1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31944 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sleeve1.jpg\" alt=\"sleeve\" width=\"475\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sleeve1.jpg 475w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sleeve1-300x295.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I doubt you are much interested in the sleeve, but this picture is the best representation of the color.<\/p>\n<p>The smocking was done with Madeira silk floss, leaves with floche and the white flowers were DMC.\u00c2\u00a0 A piece of very fine vintage entredeux was applied between the lace and the sleeve edge.\u00c2\u00a0 It was purchased about 20 years ago from a vendor of antique laces at a doll show. \u00c2\u00a0 Its delicacy seems to be due to use of finer thread on finer fabric.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/entredeux1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31945 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/entredeux1.jpg\" alt=\"entredeux\" width=\"265\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve saved this piece all these years and am happy finally to found the perfect use for it. There was enough left to use on\u00c2\u00a0 the bonnet.<\/p>\n<p>It was very tempting to add more embellishments, like lace down the front.\u00c2\u00a0 But the fabric and smocking gave me more than enough to look at, so the gown is pretty basic.\u00c2\u00a0 Still, I&#8217;m pleased with it.<\/p>\n<p>The neck binding is solid pink Swiss batiste.\u00c2\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t think I would like the striped effect on this garment.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I&#8217;m off to serge 25 yds. of 5&#8243; strips of Christmas fabric&#8211;both sides!\u00c2\u00a0 Yikes!\u00c2\u00a0 That&#8217;s 50 yds. of serging!\u00c2\u00a0 These strips will be borders for church bulletin boards,\u00c2\u00a0 a project which I&#8217;ve taken on.<\/p>\n<p>Please leave a comment every now and again so I know you&#8217;ve been here.\u00c2\u00a0 These past two weeks I&#8217;ve had to deal with 2,000 to 3500 spam messages each day on this blog.\u00c2\u00a0 Additionally, with every message, I am notified at my e-mail address, so I&#8217;ve had to delete each message twice.\u00c2\u00a0 The text has worn off my delete button!
