Of course, she is beautiful and strong, and we are pretty sure she can talk and read. She just chooses not to.<\/p>\n<p>This polycotton daygown, which was intended as an everyday, utility frock, was promoted to Coming Home Outfit\u00c2\u00a0 because the other garments&#8211; of <a title=\"Pink Antique Lace Daygown\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2012\/09\/25\/pink-antique-lace-daygown\/\">\u00c2\u00a0 Swiss batiste<\/a>, <a title=\"Vivian Rose and Her New Smocked Daygown\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/07\/vivian-rose-and-her-new-smocked-daygown\/\">Swiss flannel<\/a>, <a title=\"Swiss Dot Daygown and Thankfullness\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2012\/11\/23\/swiss-dot-daygown-and-thankfullness\/\">dotted Swiss stripe<\/a>, and <a title=\"Daygown~Lessons Learned\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/16\/daygownlessons-learned\/\">Liberty<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0 were much too large.\u00c2\u00a0 Even this newborn-3 month size enveloped her like a gunny sack. At 8 lb. 7 oz. she is our smallest newborn grandchild, with the other 3 ranging from 9 lbs. 5 oz. to 10 lbs. My own babies were both 9 lbs. 1 oz. so we expected a bigger bundle of joy. She was barely 8 lbs. when she came home, 2 days old.\u00c2\u00a0 Consequently,\u00c2\u00a0 she seems tiny to us.\u00c2\u00a0 I never dreamed the garments I made her would be too big.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/RTS-green-all21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31210\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/RTS-green-all21.jpg\" alt=\"RTS-green-all2\" width=\"791\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/RTS-green-all21.jpg 791w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/RTS-green-all21-296x300.jpg 296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 791px) 100vw, 791px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is a Ready-to-Smock bishop from Martha Pullen Company.\u00c2\u00a0 Sometime ago, I sold most of those I had on hand, deciding that I really need to make up my own using the miles of lovely fabric yardage in my stash.\u00c2\u00a0 Somehow, two\u00c2\u00a0 were overlooked in the nursery dresser. With all the hustle-bustle preparations for her birth, I was happy to have these time savers available.<\/p>\n<p>Of course I wanted to personalize it with some embellishments.\u00c2\u00a0 The easy care broadcloth gown is embellished with Victorian edging purchased at Martha&#8217;a recent ULTIMATE sale.
