I&#8217;m ready to move on.<\/p>\n<p>The pattern is the same one I used for the <a title=\"Smocked Pini-4 for Vivian Rose\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/20\/smocked-pini-4-for-vivian-rose\/\">Liberty of London popover<\/a> for granddaughter Vivian Rose.\u00c2\u00a0 But I look forward to when Lisa at Mommy&#8217;s Apron Strings releases her <a href=\"http:\/\/mommysapronstrings.blogspot.com\/2013\/07\/off-to-testers.htm\">very similar pattern<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 She has so many improvements, like sizing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/pini4-patt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32597\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/pini4-patt.jpg\" alt=\"pini4-patt\" width=\"443\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/pini4-patt.jpg 443w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/pini4-patt-207x300.jpg 207w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px\" \/><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fabric is a very, very nice quality 100% cotton (batiste weight) with the real-deal Swiss dots scattered throughout. And just $9.99 py!\u00c2\u00a0 Using my 50% off coupon makes it $5 py now, and I am loving it even more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/scan-dot-fabric1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32598\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/scan-dot-fabric1.jpg\" alt=\"scan dot fabric\" width=\"640\" height=\"601\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/scan-dot-fabric1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/scan-dot-fabric1-300x281.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was a surprise to find this at JoAnn&#8217;s.\u00c2\u00a0 Some time ago, my daughter called me a textile snob and in all honesty I have to plead guilty as charged.\u00c2\u00a0 Most of the fabric I use has been purchased at Farmhouse Fabrics, Martha Pullen Company or other quality, upscale fabric retailers. So when I found this sweet piece at JoAnn&#8217;s, I was taken aback.\u00c2\u00a0 But since Judy Day bought that lovely &#8220;Lisette&#8221; satin finish cotton at JoAnn&#8217;s for her\u00c2\u00a0 granddaughters&#8217; <a title=\"Easter Outfits by Judy Day~~Going with the Flow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/30\/easter-outfits-by-judy-daygoing-with-the-flow\/\">Easter dresses<\/a>, I&#8217;ve looked more closely at their fabrics.\u00c2\u00a0 There are some real beauties available.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/back2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32600\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/back2.jpg\" alt=\"back\" width=\"459\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/back2.jpg 459w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/back2-215x300.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 459px) 100vw, 459px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The skirt back opening has an interesting modification.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead of adding a placket, I simply faced the slit with lace tape.\u00c2\u00a0 This is a neat, soft, no fuss finish which worked perfectly, allowing the smocking to come right up to the back opening.<\/p>\n<p>Swiss edging was joined around the perimeter of the pini-4 and at the legs.\u00c2\u00a0 Embroidery floss was woven through the entredeux pattern, giving some visual weight to the white edging against the white background of the fabric.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/yoyo-close1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32601\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/yoyo-close1.jpg\" alt=\"yoyo close\" width=\"640\" height=\"570\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/yoyo-close1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/yoyo-close1-300x267.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Where the ties attached, yo-yo&#8217;s covered the securing stitches.\u00c2\u00a0 Pearl buttons are nestled in the center of the yo-yo&#8217;s for an extra embellishment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/ruffle-back1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32602\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/ruffle-back1.jpg\" alt=\"ruffle back\" width=\"640\" height=\"511\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/ruffle-back1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/ruffle-back1-300x239.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve tried my best to accommodate my daughter&#8217;s request for ruffle bottom bloomers for Baby Girl&#8217;s outfits.\u00c2\u00a0 Several methods of attachment have been tried and I&#8217;ve finally settled on this technique.\u00c2\u00a0 The ruffles were rolled and whipped on my serger with wooly nylon in the upper looper.\u00c2\u00a0 Then the gathering thread, run 1\/2&#8243; from the top edge, was pulled up.\u00c2\u00a0 After extensive pinning,\u00c2\u00a0 a small zig zag stitch L2 W1.5) was worked over the gathering thread to join the ruffle to the bloomer back.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/headband1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32603\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/headband1.jpg\" alt=\"headband\" width=\"640\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/headband1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/headband1-300x122.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I really enjoyed making this little headband.\u00c2\u00a0 On the crocheted elastic headband yardage purchased at&#8211;where else?&#8211;JoAnn&#8217;s, two yo-yo&#8217;s were stacked with a tiny purple button in the center.\u00c2\u00a0 A short length of microcheck\u00c2\u00a0 tubing was left over, so it was added to the mix.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, I can&#8217;t wait to see Vivian Rose wearing this.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope her mama isn&#8217;t disappointed in the color.\u00c2\u00a0 She told me early on that she didn&#8217;t care what color I made Baby&#8217;s clothes&#8211;light pink, dark pink, rosy pink, bright pink, pale, pale pink&#8212;well, you get the picture.<\/p>\n<p>Now I&#8217;m moving on, but to what I am not sure.\u00c2\u00a0 Time for true confessions.\u00c2\u00a0 I have fallen off the fabric diet wagon and purchased yardage of several gorgeous pieces.\u00c2\u00a0 The one that is calling me is the<em> Lisette<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 print Judy used for her girls&#8217; dresses.\u00c2\u00a0 I think Laurel Cade will soon be wearing a gaily printed sundress.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll get started on\u00c2\u00a0 that as soon as I put that row of purple cable below the beaded ribbon&#8230;.sigh.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Being compulsive is a real pain.<\/p>\n<p>~~~~~~~~~~~~<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:\u00c2\u00a0 I did it.\u00c2\u00a0 Less than 18 hours after this post was put up, that much needed cable row has been added.\u00c2\u00a0 Whew!\u00c2\u00a0 Why did I fight it?\u00c2\u00a0 Now I am much happier with the project.
