I’m packing for a trip to our cabin in North Carolina for some quality time with daughter Rebecca and her two children, 4 year old Alastair,\u00c2\u00a0 9 month old Vivian Rose and\u00c2\u00a0 Auntie Jeannette (Alastair’s NanNan).\u00c2\u00a0 We’re looking forward to a week of fall color and relaxation.\u00c2\u00a0 Actually, I’m not sure any\u00c2\u00a0 relaxation is possible with two little ones running around all day and Vivian Rose nursing 2-3 time through the night.\u00c2\u00a0 But with three adults, at least one of us should be relatively free at any given moment.<\/p>\n

Post Trip UPDATE:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 WRONG!!!!\u00c2\u00a0 It required one adult per child and one to cook meals and prepare Alastair’s non-stop snacks.\u00c2\u00a0 He must be having a growth spurt.<\/em><\/p>\n

Our Florida baby girl would need some warm clothes, so I teamed up off-the-rack fleece pants and leggings with a few tops.\u00c2\u00a0 One, of course, had to have a Halloween theme.<\/p>\n

The swing top will be worn with a white shirt, short or long sleeved depending on the weather which is very unpredictable in the High Country.\u00c2\u00a0 So in addition to the heavy fleece pants, there is a matching pair of lightweight leggings.<\/p>\n

The Candy Corn Cutie design is from Embroitique.\u00c2\u00a0 I used it a few years ago on a tunic top for Laurel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The quick and easy pattern, Duck Daisy Sunsuit<\/em>, is from this Wendy Schoen book.<\/p>\n

As you can see, the book is well worn because it has been well used.<\/p><\/div>\n

Of course, this is no heirloom, just a fun little fall outfit. Wendy would probably groan if she saw this absolutely non-heirloom interpretation. \u00c2\u00a0 Made up in rusty orange featherwale corduroy, lined with night flying bats (YIKES!) and trimmed with purple rick rack, there is not a hint of the heirloom goods Wendy recommends.\u00c2\u00a0 But I am pleased with the little top and hope the pattern’s 6-18 month size range runs true.<\/p>\n

When granddaughter Laurel was a baby, she was adorable in her Bee Happy<\/a> outfit made from this pattern.<\/p>\n

It’s such fun to make up holiday clothes for children.\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t spend much time or money on Halloween wear but the children are always pleased.\u00c2\u00a0 All the goods for this outfit–corduroy, bat lining, rick rack and even the button–were right here in my stash.<\/p>\n

Have you made any Halloween garb?\u00c2\u00a0 I’m eager to see what Jo comes up with this year for her Fab Five.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 After the previous two Halloweens featuring Little Red Riding Hood and the gingerbread family, she has set her standard high.<\/p>\n
