Both of her sons and her only grandchild live in far-off Colorado where she will be spending Thanksgiving.\u00c2\u00a0 The aprons are for her two daughters-in-law and one of their sisters, all three of whom will\u00c2\u00a0 be cooking.\u00c2\u00a0 All\u00c2\u00a0the while, Catherine will be grinning ear to ear as she revels in the joy of grandmotherhood with one year old Jay.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Apron-Hildie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28626\" alt=\"Apron Hildie\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Apron-Hildie.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Apron-Hildie.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Apron-Hildie-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The FREE wreath design (plus a cute FREE turkey through November 30) design is available at<a href=\"http:\/\/www.emblibrary.com\/EL\/Free.aspx\"> Embroidery Library<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I enjoyed playing with different colors, including some variegated threads so each apron is a little different from the others.\u00c2\u00a0 The alphabet used for the names is <em>Loralie&#8217;s<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.loraliedesigns.com\/embroidery-designs\/alphabet-embroidery-designs\/loralesque-download.html\"> Loralesque.<\/a> \u00c2\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-all.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28628\" alt=\"thankful all\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-all.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"546\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-all.jpg 800w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-all-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our godson, Joel, is Jay&#8217;s father,\u00c2\u00a0 so I feel a special attachment to this little boy.\u00c2\u00a0 Included with the aprons is a shirt I embroidered for him.\u00c2\u00a0 The design is from <a href=\"http:\/\/embroitique.com\/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&amp;category_id=109#.Uo6rTOLOQ21\">Embroitique<\/a>, but I added the text <em>&#8220;and turkeys,&#8221;<\/em> fully intending to whip up a little fleece stuffed turkey, like the <a title=\"Quick Christmas Toys~OCC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/18\/quick-christmas-toysocc\/\">Operation Christmas Child toys<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 But I\u00c2\u00a0 ran out of time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-close.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28630\" alt=\"thankful close\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-close.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-close.jpg 800w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/thankful-close-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The applique&#8217;d turkey text is another raw edge design.\u00c2\u00a0 I just can&#8217;t seem to get the knack of these.\u00c2\u00a0 When the embroidery is done, the edges are toooooo raggedy for me to live with, so ultimately I cut them close to the stitching, cringe at the loose threads and hope they won&#8217;t ravel out. It seems that it might work better with tightly woven fabric, but then would it fluff up enough to create the 3-D effect for which you are striving?\u00c2\u00a0 Can anyone givve me some advice? There are still a few Thanksgiving items left to embroider and then&#8212;YIKES!!!&#8212;it&#8217;s almost Christmas!
