I’ve always contended that anyone will enjoy the gift of a polar fleece quillow.\u00c2\u00a0 Finding the right gifts for guys is particularly difficult, but as usual, the quillow filled the bill nicely for my son’s birthday gift.<\/p>\n

This one\u00c2\u00a0is is especially appropriate for Ryan because both the colors and the design are exactly like his own Piper Twin Comanche.\u00c2\u00a0 I had a difficult time finding an embroidery design of this specific plane, but finally found a site that will sell you a design of any plane.\u00c2\u00a0 I was thrilled.<\/p>\n

Because he travels so much for his other business ventures, he keeps his plane in a hangar near his home.\u00c2\u00a0 When I decided to make a quillow for the plane, I looked unsuccessfully through all the aviation collections for an aircraft\u00c2\u00a0that looked like his.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Finally, \u00c2\u00a0I found a wonderful embroidery digitizing site<\/a> that has all models of planes in whatever size you would like.<\/p>\n

Ryan flies props, jets and helicopters and is a licensed flight instructor.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Ryan\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0made\u00c2\u00a0his solo flight on his 16th birthday, the youngest legal age at which this can be done.\u00c2\u00a0 As his mother, I wondered who thought it made sense that the same level of maturity is required to drive a car and fly a plane.<\/p>\n

But no one ever asks mothers’ opinions about such regulations.\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t know why.\u00c2\u00a0 And frankly, I wasn’t that keen on his driving at 16 either.\u00c2\u00a0 My hair turned gray as I\u00c2\u00a0watched him soaring alone in the sky above me.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0But he became a pilot then and has been flying ever since, making aviation his career.<\/p>\n

I ordered the design and added his tail numbers to it.\u00c2\u00a0 I was\u00c2\u00a0so pleased to give him such a personal gift.\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t think Delta Airlines has pictures of their\u00c2\u00a0planes or numbers embroidered on\u00c2\u00a0passenger blankets.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I just\u00c2\u00a0love what you can do with machine embroidery!<\/p>\n

Even without embroidery, a polar fleece quillow or throw makes a wonderful gift.\u00c2\u00a0 With all the fleece\u00c2\u00a0 novelty prints, you can find one that fits any special interest.<\/p>\n

Today, I was in JoAnn’s Fabrics to pick up a few notions.\u00c2\u00a0 As I was leaving, ahead of me was a teenage girl pushing a cart packed tight with 17 pieces of fleece.\u00c2\u00a0 I asked her what she was going to do with it all.\u00c2\u00a0 She remarked that she was making all her Christmas presents, from her grandmother to her youngest cousins.\u00c2\u00a0 Hers require no sewing.\u00c2\u00a0 She simply cuts a fringe all around and ties pairs of the 1″ strips in knots.<\/p>\n
