I hope you all are having a fabulous 4th.\u00c2\u00a0 We’re grilling burgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob while waiting to watch a Capitol 4th on tv tonight.<\/p>\n

Granddaughter Vivian Rose tucked right in to a traditional 4th of July dinner–fried chicken and corn on the cob.\u00c2\u00a0 Notice the bare chicken bone–that little girl can eat!\u00c2\u00a0 She is loving that corn on the cob.<\/p>\n

So this is a relatively quiet celebration for us.\u00c2\u00a0 Holidays always cause me to look back on good times and good years gone by.\u00c2\u00a0 So I am sharing with you some of my fondest memories and grandchildren outfits from earlier Independence Days.<\/p>\n

\"Patriots-corner\"<\/a>

This is on my to-do list. I’d love to hang this when we have another 4th picnic.<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

When our children were younger, we hosted an annual\u00c2\u00a0 4th of July picnic<\/a> for family and friends at our home (scroll down to the bottom if you’d like to read about the picnic).\u00c2\u00a0 Fun, fun, fun!<\/p>\n

Until this very busy year, I have always made a special outfit for each of the grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Charming as it is, this is one I never made and never will.<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here are a few of my favorites.<\/p>\n

Laurel loved those flip flops.<\/p><\/div>\n

These were for Robert and Laurel when they were our only grandchildren.\u00c2\u00a0 And then along came Alastair and Vivian Rose.\u00c2\u00a0 Hurrah!<\/p>\n

And then along came Alastair and Vivian Rose~~modeling their July 4th outfits<\/p><\/div>\n

This is the first year I haven’t made flag cupcakes.\u00c2\u00a0 Children love them.\u00c2\u00a0 Every time I made them the adults all worked hard to keep the children from poking one another’s eyes out with the toothpick flagpole.<\/p>\n

Next year for sure I’ll make cupcakes and outfits for the grands.\u00c2\u00a0 This year, I think I’ll take a nap and wait for A Capitol Fourth.<\/p>\n
