Almost overnight, Laurel has grown into a young lady and outgrown all of her church dresses.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 She is taller and definitely matured beyond the little girl dresses I love to sew.\u00c2\u00a0 I am grateful that there are patterns for tasteful big girl dresses like this Children’s Corner Lillian<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It is fully lined, making construction very easy.\u00c2\u00a0 Whipstitch piping trims the neckline and armscyes while the vent at the hemline adds\u00c2\u00a0 to ease of movement.<\/p>\n

Because of the simple lines,\u00c2\u00a0 it is very easy to add personalization and embellishment.\u00c2\u00a0 In my humble opinion, a monogram is always tasteful and the\u00c2\u00a0 floral lawn ruffles at the shoulder add color which coordinates with the embroidery.\u00c2\u00a0 The little bow adds some color to the hemline vents.<\/p>\n

The frame is from Embroidery Library<\/em><\/a>. The alphabet is Embroitique’s Fancy Monogram 1.<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

I always like to add some interest to the back of garments.\u00c2\u00a0 Between each buttonhole, machine embroidered leaves were stitched.\u00c2\u00a0 Tiny hot pink buttons serve as flowers.<\/p>\n

Only the purple buttons have buttonholes.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh dear, this needs a good press.<\/p><\/div>\n

I finished\u00c2\u00a0 this a few weeks ago and hoped to get a photo of her wearing it.\u00c2\u00a0 But we were out of town for two weeks, she had three weeks of theater camp and has been very busy. Even though we have spent time with her, there has been no opportunity for a modeling session.<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, her mother took this photo of Laurel hanging out in her back yard.\u00c2\u00a0 She looks pretty grown up to me so I hope this dress suits her.\u00c2\u00a0 No more bishops,\u00c2\u00a0 that’s for sure!<\/p>\n

So I’m entering a whole new genre of sewing for our sweet Laurel Cade.\u00c2\u00a0 This will be a stretch.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m happy that Vivian Rose is so young and I still have several years of “little girl” sewing left for her.<\/p>\n
