The monogram font is from the <em>2007 Internet Embroidery Club alphabet<\/em> by Martha Pullen.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She wanted one that would hold her inhaler, a handkerchief and hair brush.\u00c2\u00a0 A 6&#8243; x\u00c2\u00a0 42&#8243; scrap of heavy linen was lying on the cutting table\u00c2\u00a0 along with huge piles of other remnants from earlier projects.\u00c2\u00a0 I was lucky that was on top because it was just perfect for the body of the bag.\u00c2\u00a0 Had it been buried a little deeper, I might not have found it until the big Spring Sewing Room Clean Up.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"www.kreationsbykara.com\"><em>Kreations by Kara<\/em><\/a>&#8216;s\u00c2\u00a0 heart and a simple monogram were quickly embroidered, a piece of iron-on batting was applied to the back of the linen an a scrap of white pima cotton was used for the lining.\u00c2\u00a0 The zipper and ribbon were in my stash so in no time at all, the purse was finished.\u00c2\u00a0 She loved it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC00189.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31089\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC00189.jpg\" alt=\"DSC00189\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC00189.jpg 800w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC00189-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I moved on to her shoes.\u00c2\u00a0 The straps of her new sandals cut into the top of her foot but there wasn&#8217;t much extra length on the strap. \u00c2\u00a0 By picking out the stitches, repositioning the fold-over as far as possible, and resewing the strap together, the 1\/2&#8243; gained was enough to make her sandals comfortable.\u00c2\u00a0 I used a #100 needle and polyester thread.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/strap.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31090\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/strap.jpg\" alt=\"strap\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/strap.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/strap-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wish I had gotten a photo of her dressed and all ready for church.\u00c2\u00a0 But Sunday mornings are always so hectic that I don&#8217;t think about photos until after we have taken her home.\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe next time.<\/p>\n<p>So why have I been so rushed?\u00c2\u00a0 In the past three weeks this is what I have done:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 comforters for 5-year-old grandson Alastair&#8217;s new bunk beds (one double,one single<\/li>\n<li>6 turn tube pillowcases to match the comforters<\/li>\n<li>a kindergarten rest mat<\/li>\n<li>new linen valances for the living room<\/li>\n<li>hem turned up 8&#8243; on a very challenging curved skirt on a dress for Vivian Rose<\/li>\n<li>worked up three lettering designs for a fabulous young doctor\/friend<\/li>\n<li>worked up design for Operation Christmas Child dish towels. Eight of these will\u00c2\u00a0 then be embroidered for the local director to\u00c2\u00a0 hand out to her team leaders.\u00c2\u00a0 Soon&#8211;I&#8217;ll get to them very soon.<\/li>\n<li>serged and removed 4.5&#8243; from twelve (yes 12!!!!!)\u00c2\u00a0 132&#8243; tablecloths for a friend who was hosting a huge birthday party for her sister<\/li>\n<li>embroidered a Christmas stocking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There must be more, but that&#8217;s all I can recall now.\u00c2\u00a0 So for now, I am FREE\u00c2\u00a0 AT LAST!!!\u00c2\u00a0 Off to cut out another Children&#8217;s Corner <em>Jane<\/em> for Vivian Rose.\u00c2\u00a0 Yeah!<\/p>\n<p>So have you all been doing fun sewing or MUST sewing?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; There have been so many must-do projects in my sewing room that I&#8217;m way behind in clothing my granddaughters.\u00c2\u00a0 Ten-year-old Laurel has outgrown almost all of her church clothes so we shopped at the mall.
