<\/a>Alastair's first Halloween<\/p><\/div>\n
What a great pattern this is! I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had it for more than 25 years and always thought that I would make it up. When I bought it, my own son was already\u00c2\u00a0eight\u00c2\u00a0years old, so it didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t happen in his time. But with two little grandsons now, I decided to pull Children’s Corner<\/em> “Glenn” out of my boys\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 pattern box and give it a try.<\/p>\n It makes up just like the Jon-Jon pattern from Martha\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Favorite Applique\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, but has the button-on bib pattern included. It can be worn with or without the bib so you can get a lot of use from one suit. It also has nice tabs on either side to pull in at the waist where the armholes might gap. Bibs can be made up for holidays or simply for variety.<\/p>\n Alastair and his adoring mama, Rebecca<\/p><\/div>\n Have any readers made up this pattern?\u00c2\u00a0 Do you have any others that have been unused in your pattern box that you have finally tried?\u00c2\u00a0 I’m going to pull out some others and see if I am as pleased.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n My darling daughter, Rebecca, is beside herself with the joy of motherhood and seizes every opportunity for new experiences for 7 month old Alastair. They\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve already been to the pumpkin patch twice and she can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t wait to suit him up for Halloween in his bat costume.<\/p>\n Does this costume make me look bat?<\/p><\/div>\n <\/p>\n I\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to spend time making up an outfit for this brief holiday, so Glenn with a bib seemed like the perfect solution.<\/p>\n The Glenn suit is made from a black and white houndstooth check. It is lined in white Imperial broadcloth, the same fabric from which the bib was made.\u00c2\u00a0 It does seem to run a little small.\u00c2\u00a0 I made a size 1 and it is snug on him. Alastair is a big boy, in the 80th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight, and he wears bulky cloth diapers.\u00c2\u00a0 But he is only 7 months old.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ll have to go up a size for\u00c2\u00a0his next Glenn.<\/p>\n The text and spider embroidery on the bib is from Babylock\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Happy Halloween <\/em>collection. With my BuzzEdit program, I had to relocate the spider to accommodate the pumpkin stem. The applique\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 pumpkin was extracted from one of the designs in Sew Many Designs Boo to You!<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The bib pattern is just a single pattern piece, the front and the lining. I used my edgestitch foot to run a row of black top stitching along the edges.\u00c2\u00a0 Since they are so quick to make, I am really anxious to sew up more bibs for Alastair.<\/p>\n Please share your experiences if you have made any holiday bibs.<\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What a great pattern this is!
