for our\u00c2\u00a0 grandson and his friends made entirely in the hoop of my Brother Dream Machine<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It seems that children everywhere are dangling little characters and ornaments from their backpacks.\u00c2\u00a0 The description on one site tells it all:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Want to dress up your backpack for school?\u00c2\u00a0 Keychains are a great way to make a statement about who you are&#8230;..Show your hobbies, express your beliefs, or tell who you are with one of our keychains today.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Just see how many are for sale on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ustoy.com\/category\/key-chains\">one site<\/a> alone.\u00c2\u00a0 Would you like a tutorial on how these can be made on any embroidery machine?<\/p>\n<p>After embroidering 43 <a title=\"Only for the Love of Grandchildren\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/14\/only-for-love-of-grandchildren\/\">Pokemon Ninja headbands<\/a> for our 6 year old grandson Alastair I made him a hanging embroidery with the text<em> Pokemon<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 It hung from his backpack and was admired by his friends.<\/p>\n<p>When I offered to make more, he requested several to share with his Pokemon passionate pals.\u00c2\u00a0 Eleven were made, some to keep and some to share.\u00c2\u00a0 He is a kind-hearted, generous little guy who thinks of others far more often than I would expect from a kindergartner.<\/p>\n<p>His sweet<a title=\"Happy Valentines Day Celebrations\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/15\/family-valentine-celebration\/\"> classmate\u00c2\u00a0 Maddie<\/a> loves Frozen so he asked\u00c2\u00a0 if I would make some for her.\u00c2\u00a0 Laurel, his 11 yo cousin,\u00c2\u00a0 has dubbed them Pack Pals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/keychains1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33859\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/keychains1.jpg\" alt=\"keychains\" width=\"590\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/keychains1.jpg 590w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/keychains1-277x300.jpg 277w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The<a title=\"Backpack and Dingle Dangles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/30\/backpack-and-dingle-dangles\/\"> Disney characters<\/a> above and a matching backpack were embroidered on my Brother Quattro for a friend before Alastair&#8217;s were made.\u00c2\u00a0 A special feature on that machine as well as on The Dream Machine outlines any embroidery design with a straight stitch. and then adds a satin stitch.<\/p>\n<p>After the embroidery and the outline stitch is finished, the piece is removed from the hoop and trimmed very close to the outline stitching.\u00c2\u00a0 A backing piece is then hooped and the outline stitch is repeated .\u00c2\u00a0 Excess outside that outline on the backing piece is trimmed away and the trimmed embroidery design is placed over it with a glue stick.\u00c2\u00a0 The satin stitch covers the raw edges and joins the two pieces together.\u00c2\u00a0 A ribbon is slipped between the two layers before the satin stitching.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to make\u00c2\u00a0 one with the name of grandson Robert&#8217;s flag football\u00c2\u00a0 team.\u00c2\u00a0 He could hang it from his athletic bag.\u00c2\u00a0 A ballerina could hang one from her dance bag.\u00c2\u00a0 An embroidery to match the nursery them would be cute hanging from a diaper bag, especially if it is made of materials that could be gnawed by a fussy baby.\u00c2\u00a0 These could be made for any child&#8211;or adult!<\/p>\n<p>With a little more effort, a simpler version of the Pack Pals can be made on any\u00c2\u00a0 machine with hoop embroidery.
