This is the first time I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had three little ones to sew for.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I am really looking forward to seeing them all together, sharing DNA,\u00c2\u00a0 matching outfits and family fun.<\/p>\n<p>The children love to participate in\u00c2\u00a0dinner preparations and at 2 and\u00c2\u00a03 years old, Robert and Laurel had limited opportunities\u00c2\u00a0to do anything more than\u00c2\u00a0get burned.\u00c2\u00a0 So they handled the Sister Schubert rolls, painting them generously and sloppily with melted honey butter.\u00c2\u00a0<!--more-->Two years ago, Robert and Laurel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s garments were made of green pima cotton, self\u00c2\u00a0 lined and appliqu\u00c3\u00a9d with a monogrammed pumpkin pocket. Robert has always been enamored of pockets so making a free standing pumpkin appliqu\u00c3\u00a9 was a design element I knew would appeal to him.\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/thanks07Reats.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3453\" title=\"thanks07Reats\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/thanks07Reats.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"549\" height=\"628\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As I do so often, I resorted to the jumper and Jon-Jon patterns in the Martha Pullen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s book, <em>Martha\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Favorite Appliqu\u00c3\u00a9s<\/em>. The large buttons were chosen for the strong pop of color and their playful look.<\/p>\n<p>Easy care is an important part of the garment design process.\u00c2\u00a0 As you can see in the photo below, after dinner and before laundering, \u00c2\u00a0Robert&#8217;s outfit required significant pre-treatment.\u00c2\u00a0 Realistically, I knew these outfits would be worn no more than a few times, so neither their mother nor\u00c2\u00a0I \u00c2\u00a0gave much thought to stains.<\/p>\n<p>I try to make the children&#8217;s table as festive as the adult table.\u00c2\u00a0 They always enjoy their special\u00c2\u00a0decorations and in years to come might notice that they, too, have a linen table cloth and napkins.<\/p>\n<p>Have you made matching outfits for siblings and cousins? Do you do it for holidays or family pictures?
