She still loves\u00c2\u00a0her smocked dresses, but she also loves all that is fashionable for the 4-7 year old age group.<\/p>\n<p>Have any of you heirloom fans found yourself smitten with garments 180 degrees from your comfort zone?\u00c2\u00a0 When I found these jeans, I had to admit they were pretty cute. The design is from Adorable Ideas <em>French Curve Connection<\/em>, a very useful and versatile collection of swirls. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/jeweledshirt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3594\" title=\"jeweledshirt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/jeweledshirt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"791\" height=\"952\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/jeweledshirt.jpg 791w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/jeweledshirt-249x300.jpg 249w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 791px) 100vw, 791px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Each design is offered in straight outline stitch, chain stitch or satin stitch. Since the jeans\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 swirls were chain stitch swirls, I was able to replicate the design pretty closely, especially since one design was on the back and the other on the front. The pattern in the\u00c2\u00a0jeans embroidery consists of colored lines of chain stitches in green, blue and pink. The <em>French Curve Connection<\/em> designs are all monotone. So with BuzzEdit2, I isolated the swirls and inserted color stops.\u00c2\u00a0Using\u00c2\u00a0different variegated thread in each of those color stops \u00c2\u00a0made the changes less noticeable. It also\u00c2\u00a0made the design flow more gently than if solid colors had been used in each of the swirls.<\/p>\n<p>This was fun to make, but I am happy to be back to smocking a bishop nightgown for her.\u00c2\u00a0 That&#8217;s where my comfort zone is.<\/p>\n<p>Adding the hot-fix jewels made the contrived match of the two embroideries more convincing.
