{"id":36420,"date":"2016-11-08T16:57:06","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T21:57:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=36420"},"modified":"2016-12-01T03:20:22","modified_gmt":"2016-12-01T08:20:22","slug":"jungle-book-cot-sheet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2016\/11\/08\/jungle-book-cot-sheet\/","title":{"rendered":"Jungle Book Cot Sheet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-36421\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Jungle-sheet-all.jpg\" alt=\"jungle-sheet-all\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Jungle-sheet-all.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Jungle-sheet-all-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During my lengthy absence from this blog, I did get some sewing done.\u00c2\u00a0 This cot sheet is a fun little project.\u00c2\u00a0 It can be plain or fancy, utilitarian or heavily embroidered as is this one.<\/p>\n<p>First, I have to be up front with you all&#8211;my name is Janice and\u00c2\u00a0 I am a textile snob.\u00c2\u00a0 My linen closet has nothing but pima cotton sheets.\u00c2\u00a0 My master, guest and children&#8217;s beds have always been made up with silky pima cotton.<\/p>\n<p>Many years ago, there was a brief and almost sleepless few days when my 8 yo son slept on stiff and scratchy <em>Garfield <\/em>sheets.\u00c2\u00a0 They were a gift for which he had begged his grandmother.\u00c2\u00a0 After a week, he wanted his old sheets back.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;They just don&#8217;t feel good, Mama.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 From the mouths of babes&#8211;raised on pima.<\/p>\n<p>Before she even moved into her freshman dorm at University of Florida, my daughter begged me to custom make two sets of pima cotton sheets for the odd sized mattress.\u00c2\u00a0 She was like the Princess and the Pea.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Mama, I won&#8217;t be able to sleep on anything else!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So what does this have to do with Disney&#8217;s <em>Jungle Book<\/em> themed cot sheet shown above?<!--more--> Well, it&#8217;s not pima cotton, but the 100% cotton is several grades above the faux fabric, standard-issue preschool cot sheets which my daughter found unacceptable for her first preschooler.<\/p>\n<p>Even on those nasty but serviceable sheets, some children drift off, blissfully\u00c2\u00a0 replenishing their energy banks for another go-round at the playground.\u00c2\u00a0 Others squirm and fidget, hoping this dreadful quiet time will soon be over.<\/p>\n<p>When my grandson&#8217;s cot sheet was sent home to be laundered for the first time, his mother (of\u00c2\u00a0 the Princess and Pea ilk) was aghast.\u00c2\u00a0 Her baby boy could NOT sleep on that!\u00c2\u00a0 So the first of many preschool cot sheets was made and sent off priority mail.
