The Halloween jumper reversed to become a Thanksgiving jumper. Sorry, but the orange gingham hem on the Halloween dress does not show up well.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Have you ever heard anyone say that they have too much time to sew? We all seem to have more projects in the queue than time will allow. Here&#8217;s a tip&#8211;sew a reversible two holiday garment such as this. It is trimmed with purple spaghetti bias and an orange button at the peak of each scallop.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The reversible jumper is a project I did for Brother&#8217;s blog, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.brothersews.com\/diy\/reversible-fall-jumper\/\">Stitching Sewcial<\/a><\/em>. There you will find step-by-step instructions for this slick technique which I first learned from guru Louise Baird&#8217;s excellent directions in<em> Applique, Martha&#8217;s Favorites<\/em>. Only 4&#8243; of handsewing is required for the entire garment!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_37355\" style=\"width: 401px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37355\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-37355 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/MP-applique.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/MP-applique.jpg 391w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/MP-applique-235x300.jpg 235w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-37355\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This book includes a pattern for a nearly identical jumper as well as a boy&#8217;s Jon-Jon.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Halloween scalloped hemline border was simply sewn with raw edges to the black pique&#8217; dress. The top edge is covered with purple spaghetti bias and an orange button at each peak. The hemline features a fall leaf border which includes a dainty leaf that was offered for free at the time. All the designs are from www.ibroidery.com. It is absolutely fabulous. The link to the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.brothersews.com\/free-design-of-the-month\/embroidered-outdoor-vest\/#comments\">free design is on her post.<\/a><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Of course, Halloween &#8217;17 is history now, but this reversible garment technique would work with any two holidays. Christmas and Valentine&#8217;s Day come to mind as red or green whipstitch or gingham piping around the top could coordinate with a green Christmas dress and a red Valentine jumper.<\/p>\n<p>The pattern used for this is<em> New Look 6504.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>Only the front and back pattern pieces were used. Contrary to the instructions, the back was cut on the fold and the zipper eliminated. The square corners of the pattern were rounded for ease in applying the piping.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For this garment I stitched buttonholes (in the hoop) into each of the four straps and closed the jumper with ribbon.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_37364\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37364\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37364\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1104_image-27-back-straps-basted-to-frame-ED-txt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1104_image-27-back-straps-basted-to-frame-ED-txt.jpg 800w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1104_image-27-back-straps-basted-to-frame-ED-txt-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1104_image-27-back-straps-basted-to-frame-ED-txt-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-37364\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After these buttonholes were stitched, the other straps were placed in front of them and stitched in the same hooping. That saved time and stabilizer. I like that.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>FYI, I must disclose that I am a paid &#8220;<b> Brother Expert Consultant.<\/b> You probably already knew that.
