This pillowcase combines two of my favorite techniques, shadow embroidery by machine and Madeira applique by machine.\u00c2\u00a0 I doubt the appeal of either will ever fade for me.<\/p>\n

By hand,\u00c2\u00a0shadow work \u00c2\u00a0is a soothing needleart that creates\u00c2\u00a0stunning results.\u00c2\u00a0 By embroidery machine, it is a quick, exciting effort\u00c2\u00a0that creates\u00c2\u00a0 the very same delicate result.\u00c2\u00a0 In earlier posts, I’ve detailed the process by which designs can be worked in a snap with the aid of an embroidery machine.\u00c2\u00a0 Suzanne Hinshaw developed the technique and has several\u00c2\u00a0collections on the market.\u00c2\u00a0 This design is from one of her earlier sets, Shadowed Bows Two<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

With design sets\u00c2\u00a0including teddy bears, flowers, angels,\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0monograms and more, shadow work by machine\u00c2\u00a0offers a huge variety of \u00c2\u00a0designs.<\/p>\n

The blue Madeira applique’ hem is done with the miraculous technique using water soluble thread.\u00c2\u00a0 This, too, has been described in earlier posts.\u00c2\u00a0 Pinstitched in place, the scalloped hem is echoed in a feather stitch just above.\u00c2\u00a0 Pinwheel roses are perched at each peak, accenting the line and covering the usually untidy pivot of the feather stitch.<\/p>\n
