wide fabric works very well.\u00c2\u00a0 I keep my eye on the $1 py clearance fabric at WalMart and JoAnn&#8217;s and usually, with few weeks advance notice, can find just what I need.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Fiber content does not concern me.\u00c2\u00a0 For $1.66 per cloth, I can throw it away if it doesn&#8217;t wash.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, I just serge the edges with a rolled hem, as I have done with the sheer pink fabric above.\u00c2\u00a0When using decorator fabric, I stitch a shirttail hem.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/wedtableclothcocktails1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32790\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/wedtableclothcocktails1.jpg\" alt=\"side yard close\" width=\"226\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After our daughter&#8217;s garden wedding for the cocktail hour, I layered two cloths.\u00c2\u00a0 Nine years ago, I made a dozen 60&#8243; squares of the floral decorator fabric @ $5 py (clearance, of course!) for my niece&#8217;s wedding.\u00c2\u00a0 They have been used three other times and were pulled out yet again for Rebecca&#8217;s wedding.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Even at a cost of $7.50 each, I have more than gotten my money&#8217;s worth.\u00c2\u00a0 The pink fabric was $1 py, of unknown fiber content, but washed very nicely.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32791\" style=\"width: 463px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/RoberNcakes1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32791\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-32791 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/RoberNcakes1.jpg\" alt=\"RoberNcakes\" width=\"453\" height=\"604\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/RoberNcakes1.jpg 453w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/RoberNcakes1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 453px) 100vw, 453px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-32791\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">machine embroidered transformer inset into birthday tablecloth<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00c2\u00a0The transformer tablecloth for Robert&#8217;s 4th birthday party was a little more time consuming, but a real hit with the boys.<\/p>\n<p>He insisted that he wanted a Superman\/Transformer party, so we called it a SuperHero party.\u00c2\u00a0 Each corner featured a different machine embroidered transformer.\u00c2\u00a0 The boys examined each design and enthusiastically\u00c2\u00a0discussed their favorite transformer. \u00c2\u00a0Who would have thought that a tablecloth\u00c2\u00a0would impress\u00c2\u00a0and\/or \u00c2\u00a0catch the interest of\u00c2\u00a04-6 year old boys?\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0This was real junk fabric, but\u00c2\u00a0to my surprise it laundered quite well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32792\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/SpecOccHapbir1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32792\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-32792 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/SpecOccHapbir1.jpg\" alt=\"SpecOccHapbir\" width=\"640\" height=\"551\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/SpecOccHapbir1.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/SpecOccHapbir1-300x258.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-32792\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">HAPPY BIRTHDAY text tablecloth<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When I found this cotton 45&#8243; HAPPY BIRTHDAY \u00c2\u00a0fabric, I knew the text would make up for the lack of width.\u00c2\u00a0 I made up several and the colors were perfect for Robert&#8217;s 3rd birthday Wiggles party.\u00c2\u00a0 These tablecloths has been to more birthday parties than a\u00c2\u00a0popular 10 year old.\u00c2\u00a0I liked it so much that I lined Robert&#8217;s Wiggles Jon-Jon birthday suit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_27975\" style=\"width: 544px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/085.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27975\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27975\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/085.jpg\" alt=\"sheer table topper\" width=\"534\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/085.jpg 534w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/085-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-27975\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">sheer table topper coordinated with chair bows<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For\u00c2\u00a0Rebecca&#8217;s wedding\u00c2\u00a0reception, I needed 14 tablecloths.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The clearance table finally had the perfect sheer gold I wanted (@ $1 py) but had enough for only 9 tables.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Later, I found the same shade in a decorator weight fabric ($2 py) and used that.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I doubt any of our guests\u00c2\u00a0noticed or cared about the difference in texture.\u00c2\u00a0 At least, no one asked to be seated elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0The next time you host a shower or birthday party, consider making a tablecloth.\u00c2\u00a0 With the right fabric, you might really impress a grandchild or someone else.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
