I saw a bee today. After what must be one of central Florida\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s coldest winters ever, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s finally warming up. I doubt this is the end of the nasty low temps, but at least now that I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve seen a bee, I can believe that spring WILL come. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m buzzily planning Easter outfits for my grandchildren and wish I could buzz as fast as the bees.<\/p>\n

A moment of contemplation…..<\/p><\/div>\n

Today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s honeymaker sighting reminded me of this little Bee Happy outfit I made for my granddaughter, Laurel. The bright colors, breezy style, bee theme and sun hat reminded me of fun, easy summer sewing and I am surely looking forward to some of that.<\/p>\n

The sunsuit is made of cool, cotton pique\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, trimmed with black baby rick rack. The yellow gingham used for the Madeira applique’\u00c2\u00a0 hemline (not in the pattern) was repeated in the hat and bubble pants.<\/p>\n

The pattern is Ducky Daisy Sunsuit from Wendy Schoen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s book, Creating Heirlooms for Bab<\/em>y. The pattern centerfold includes the sunsuit top, bubble pants and sun hat. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s one of those fabulous basic patterns that can be embellished countless ways. Can you tell that I love it?<\/p>\n

It has a sweet, cool open back which is so nice for our hot Florida summers.<\/p>\n

The embroidery design was altered so much that I cannot recall where it began. The blossoms in the unknown design were deleted and replaced with yellow rick rack flowers. This garment was made just before Kari Mecca\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s article on rick rack flowers appeared in Sew Beautiful<\/em> magazine. I just whipped the points together, tucked the ends behind the petals and plunked a black button in the center.\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Amazing Designs Gingham 1<\/em> collection was the source of the embroidery design for the \u00c2\u00a0bee path and text. The bees in that design were replaced with dainty bees digitized by Charleen Madsen. These are the tiniest, sweetest little bees. If anyone would like this design, just submit the request in the comments section. I have Charleen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s permission to distribute the bee.<\/p>\n
