This yoke not all rippley.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Progress is slow on this dress and I am really getting worried about finishing the grandchildren&#8217;s outfits before Easter weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 I have made every mistake possible and spent more time picking out stitches than putting them in.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This ultra sheer batiste absolutely requires stabilizer behind all hemstitching.\u00c2\u00a0 And yet if I remember to put the stabilizer in place, I have forgotten to insert the wing or #120 needle.<\/p>\n<p>In my humble opinion, the inclusion of\u00c2\u00a0hemstitching wherever possible always elevates the heirloom status of a garment.\u00c2\u00a0 On a whim, I decided to use yellow Madeira Cotona for the entredeux at the shoulders and pinstitch on either side of the insertion.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I hope I don&#8217;t regret it when the garment is all assembled.\u00c2\u00a0 Will it disappear or conflict with the yellow slip?\u00c2\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This yoke includes one slightly out of the ordinary technique that I like to use.\u00c2\u00a0 As per Elizabeth Travis\u00c2\u00a0 Johnson&#8217;s admonition that the back of a garment deserves some special attention, I\u00c2\u00a0like to\u00c2\u00a0include some decorative component there.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;ve always had trouble matching up pintucks or lace insertion at the shoulder seam.\u00c2\u00a0 So I&#8217;ve taken to sewing the shoulder seam and then inserting the lace or making the tucks or whatever from back to front, right over the shoulder seam.\u00c2\u00a0 It requires a little pivoting,\u00c2\u00a0 but overall it is much easier for me to do that than to match at the seam line.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After struggling with the neckline lace attachment at the back opening&#8211;trying to line up the holes of the folded over entredeux with the on-top entredeux holes&#8211; I finally decided to just whip the lace on by hand.\u00c2\u00a0 That was very satisfying and made me regret that I had not joined the fagoted lace to the footing lace in that manner.\u00c2\u00a0 It looks heavy to me.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The butterfly sleeves are cut out of Swiss organdy.\u00c2\u00a0 This sheer batiste has no body whatsoever and this style of \u00c2\u00a0sleeve\u00c2\u00a0 needs to pouf out.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been thinking about joining the lace by hand but&#8230;&#8230;.tick-tock-tick-tock.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0I hope I can\u00c2\u00a0 make more significant progress on the dress now that I have the yoke basically constructed.\u00c2\u00a0 Tomorrow, as soon as homeschool is over, the sleeves will\u00c2\u00a0have all my attention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Progress is slow on this dress and I am really getting worried about finishing the grandchildren&#8217;s outfits before Easter weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 I have made every mistake possible and spent more time picking out stitches than putting them in.\u00c2\u00a0 This ultra sheer &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2010\/03\/24\/easter-2-yoke\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[8,28,43,38],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6160"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/4"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=6160"}],"version-history":[{"count":11,"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6160\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":15111,"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6160\/revisions\/15111"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6160"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=6160"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=6160"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
