Robert, spent\u00c2\u00a0 last night with us and what with all the activity, baths and preparations for today&#8217;s homeschool lessons, not much got done on the dress until this evening.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14078\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Easter2progressleeverotatedBrite.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14078\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-14078\" title=\"Easter2progressleeverotatedBrite\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Easter2progressleeverotatedBrite-1024x709.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Easter2progressleeverotatedBrite-1024x709.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Easter2progressleeverotatedBrite-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-14078\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">unfinished butterfly sleeve<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The butterfly\u00c2\u00a0sleeves are well underway.\u00c2\u00a0 I finished the skirt fancyband and\u00c2\u00a0plan to use a portion of that for the lace ruffle below the beading.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0But time ran out before I could get the sleeves finished.\u00c2\u00a0 The skirts are 45&#8243; front and back, so it takes 2 1\/2 yds. of each piece of the 5 pieces of lace in the fancyband.\u00c2\u00a0 It takes a good while to starch and iron 13 yards of lace, not to mention the time to stitch them together.\u00c2\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dealing with the fagoted lace galoon was more than a little challenging.\u00c2\u00a0 I was once again grateful for the forgiving nature of lace as I pressed the gently rippled\u00c2\u00a0fancyband perfectly flat.<\/p>\n<p>The skirts are cut, the placket is inserted and the sleeves are ready for the beading and lace trim.\u00c2\u00a0 Tomorrow&#8217;s goal is to pinstitch the fancyband into the skirt and finish the sleeves.\u00c2\u00a0 I am so enjoying this project.<\/p>\n<p>As part of today&#8217;s lesson, Robert did some woodworking with Bob, aka Granddad, in his shop.\u00c2\u00a0 They were to finish the little wooden helicopter today and Robert was so anxious.\u00c2\u00a0 After completing his reading assignment, he ran upstairs to Bob&#8217;s study, where he works at home, and asked he could go shopping with him.\u00c2\u00a0 Bob was puzzled initially, until Robert explained, &#8220;Shopping, Granddad&#8211;workshopping.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Laurel&#8217;s heirloom sewn\u00c2\u00a0Easter yoke dress is coming along.\u00c2\u00a0 She and her brother.
