Alastair does not want to sit!<\/p><\/div>\n

UPDATE:\u00c2\u00a0 Alastair just looks so serious and even unhappy in the photos from this wonderful day.\u00c2\u00a0 So I have decided to include this picture.\u00c2\u00a0 I managed to capture one of his happiest moments in this blurry photo.\u00c2\u00a0 While we were getting dinner on the table, he discovered that the easily opened old oak wash stand in the kitchen housed a box of garbage bags with unlimited fun potential.<\/p>\n

Alastair, anticipating a LOT of garbage after Easter dinner.<\/p><\/div>\n

He was allowed to enjoy himself but was never left unsupervised with the potentially dangerous bags.\u00c2\u00a0~~~~~~~~~~~~~<\/p>\n

Alastair has places to go and eggs to hunt.<\/p><\/div>\n

What a lovely, joyous celebration we had today!\u00c2\u00a0 We are so grateful that both of our children and their families\u00c2\u00a0live near enough that we can be together for holidays and often just to be together.<\/p>\n

When\u00c2\u00a0Ryan’s family\u00c2\u00a0arrived, Robert was perfectly happy to swap out his huge shirt for this one, version 2, which is more fitted than version 1 but still too large.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The wash and wear shirt and polycotton blend featherwale baby cord shorts were the only pieces in the Easter wardrobe which were truly modern projects for this old fashioned Nana.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Also made of baby cord, Alastair’s bubble is mostly easy care, but the “chameleon” \u00c2\u00a0lace\u00c2\u00a0and the duck handloom all need to be ironed.\u00c2\u00a0 Still, it is relatively low maintenance.<\/p>\n

I\u00c2\u00a0snapped a few pictures of the grandchildren together wearing the outfits I made.\u00c2\u00a0 But I am no Olan Mills and my yard is no studio.\u00c2\u00a0 Thirteen month old Alastair needs a professional photographer\u00c2\u00a0and a degree of confinement in order to get the kind of cooperation\u00c2\u00a0required\u00c2\u00a0for a\u00c2\u00a0good shot of three children.<\/p>\n

So what's this?<\/p><\/div>\n

\u00c2\u00a0First, we tried sitting them together on a quilt.\u00c2\u00a0 Laurel and Robert were models of decorum, but Alastair needs something more to keep him still than his parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle making faces and silly noises.\u00c2\u00a0 “Excuse me, please,”\u00c2\u00a0 said his little face, as clearly as if he could speak.<\/p>\n

So is anybody going to open this for me?<\/p><\/div>\n

Then, we tried having them stand together, but Alastair had places to go and eggs to find.\u00c2\u00a0 Even with Cousin Robert’s vice grip on his little hand, he was leaving.\u00c2\u00a0 It was clear that these were the best and only group of three shots we were getting.\u00c2\u00a0So they hunted eggs and we captured what we could\u00c2\u00a0as we chased after them.<\/p>\n

Where should I look now?<\/p><\/div>\n

Robert is still for a rare moment.<\/p><\/div>\n

There are so few pictures of Robert.\u00c2\u00a0 He is not a big fan of the camera and he is so hard to catch!<\/p>\n

After the egg hunt, we sat down to dinner with the fun centerpiece that I knew they would enjoy.\u00c2\u00a0 A basket was loaded up with tulips, purple and white angelonia, African violets, Easter grass and jelly beans.\u00c2\u00a0 Added to that were\u00c2\u00a0 gorgeous feather butterflies, realistic bumble bees, grasshoppers and ladybugs, all sent to me by a dear friend in a big box of Spring!\u00c2\u00a0 The greatest treasure was a set of three little chicks, so lifelike that I think I heard one cheep!\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The children\u00c2\u00a0also enjoyed the bunny cake.\u00c2\u00a0I abandoned my plan for lemon meringue pie dessert because we had too many dishes requiring oven space.\u00c2\u00a0 So Plan B was strawberry shortcake.\u00c2\u00a0 The berries were sliced and steeping in their juices, shortcake was made and it was ready to be served.<\/p>\n

But at the last minute. I decided that the children would enjoy a bunny cake more.\u00c2\u00a0 So I scurried around and made it\u00c2\u00a0up specifically for them.\u00c2\u00a0 The funny thing is that only my dear husband ate the\u00c2\u00a0strawberries.\u00c2\u00a0 Everyone else had bunny cake.\u00c2\u00a0 Go figure.<\/p>\n

Laurel\u00c2\u00a0had been\u00c2\u00a0gently admonished to keep her dress clean.\u00c2\u00a0 She ate so carefully that her dress was spotless at the end of the meal.<\/p>\n

After dinner, the guys played football while Alastair napped.\u00c2\u00a0 Later, Rebecca and Harvey took Alastair to visit her godparents down the street while my precious, nature girl\u00c2\u00a0daughter-in-law pulled weeds….for fun!\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0No one wanted to be indoors. \u00c2\u00a0John and Susanna, our friends of 35 years dropped by and had dessert—-bunny cake!<\/p>\n

It was a glorious day with family and friends.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope your Easter celebration was wonderful.<\/p>\n
