<\/a><\/p>\nI’ve been away from home now for 10 days and am getting a little homesick. Still, I had another good day in rehab. My day began, as usual, with a visit over breakfast\u00c2\u00a0with\u00c2\u00a0my dear, dear husband, Bob.\u00c2\u00a0 I really miss him.<\/p>\n
Each day he brings Hannah, our 90 lb. German Shepherd\/Great Pyrenees mix.\u00c2\u00a0 With her 4-5″ long coat and distinctive markings, she looks\u00c2\u00a0 a lot like a wolf.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Most people who see her are intimidated by her size and furtive looks as she skulks in the side entrance just 2 doors down from my room.\u00c2\u00a0 I really appreciate this facility’s \u00c2\u00a0policy of allowing “nice” dogs 24\/7.\u00c2\u00a0 I hug her and always save some breakfast to share.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Still, I miss her company all day long.<\/p>\n
Our\u00c2\u00a0yellow Lab, Rastus, is a reluctant traveler so he stays at home and doesn’t visit me here.\u00c2\u00a0 At home he follows my every\u00c2\u00a0move all day long.\u00c2\u00a0 I know he misses me.\u00c2\u00a0 And\u00c2\u00a0I surely miss him.<\/p>\n We’ve had some much needed rain and Bob says my roses are blooming exuberantly.\u00c2\u00a0 I miss my yard.<\/p>\n My therapy sessions went well.\u00c2\u00a0 They are brutal work outs, but as I mentioned to Karen in response to her comment, each ache and pain is like a mile marker on the road to recovery.\u00c2\u00a0 I can now walk about my room without a walker,\u00c2\u00a0balance \u00c2\u00a0unassisted on my left leg (with the new knee)\u00c2\u00a0for 4-7 seconds at a time and bend it 100 degrees, with a lot of groaning.<\/p>\n As I began the second session, I was a little saddened, knowing\u00c2\u00a0that Laurel’s dance recital was just beginning.\u00c2\u00a0 This was her first big production and I just hated missing it.\u00c2\u00a0 My son, Laurel’s father, recorded and posted it on YouTube tonight so I just watched it.\u00c2\u00a0http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=g6iBP-r789g<\/a><\/p>\n It wasn’t like being there, but it was surely better than nothing.<\/p>\n It made me laugh, remembering my daughter’s exclamations when she first heard that Laurel was signed up for dance lessons. “What?!#$!,” she gasped.\u00c2\u00a0 “What a waste of money!\u00c2\u00a0 All Fergusons are as clumsy as oxen!”<\/p>\n I could only say that perhaps the dance lessons will help mitigate\u00c2\u00a0Laurel’s \u00c2\u00a0genetic disadvantage.\u00c2\u00a0 After viewing the video, I have to say that she has spunk and charisma, if not grace.\u00c2\u00a0 And I miss her.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" day #10 post op I’ve been away from home now for 10 days and am getting a little homesick.
