according to Scottish poet\u00c2\u00a0Robert Burns.\u00c2\u00a0 John Steinbeck gave us the more contemporary finish, &#8220;..often go awry.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Whatever.\u00c2\u00a0 Whoever.\u00c2\u00a0 My best laid plans most definitely went awry.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00c2\u00a0best laid plan was to whip up a tote bag for my darling daughter-in-law&#8217;s birthday, today.\u00c2\u00a0 She seldom asks for anything but about a month ago mentioned that if anyone asked for birthday suggestions, she would really like a good size tote bag, personalized with some embroidery.\u00c2\u00a0 I was so excited to think I could finally do something special for\u00c2\u00a0my special friend, beloved daughter-in-law and respected homeschool co-teacher.<\/p>\n<p>Before surgery I selected and edited all the designs, laid out the bag and was ready to go.\u00c2\u00a0 Certainly with 3 full days between arriving home and her birthday, I could complete this project.\u00c2\u00a0 And Monday or Tuesday\u00c2\u00a0I would photograph it to post\u00c2\u00a0to this\u00c2\u00a0 blog.<\/p>\n<p>As it turned out, I felt so good, so robust, so strong when I arrived home Saturday morning that I decided to deadhead 20 of my Knockout rose bushes and weed those beds.\u00c2\u00a0 The other 20 roses, I thought, could wait until Sunday.\u00c2\u00a0 I had some restraint.\u00c2\u00a0 But while I was at it, I might as well start on the mountain of laundry, all 7 loads which I managed to wash, dry, fold and put away.\u00c2\u00a0 The house needed a little tidying up, Bob&#8217;s shirts needed ironing\u00c2\u00a0and my newly transplanted passion vine, ginger lily, plumbago, oak leaf hydrangea and others did need some watering.\u00c2\u00a0 And so I did.<\/p>\n<p>Big mistake.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The long and short of it is\u00c2\u00a0 that today I started on Shelly&#8217;s bag and have only one of 7 major embroideries done.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Not only that, I have nothing to post except some to-die-for things from Judy Day but I want to save those for later.\u00c2\u00a0 I spend a good bit of time doing my at home therapy and then have to lie around while it is iced.\u00c2\u00a0 I can only sit for a short while without elevating my knee and my computer is not set up in such a way that this is feasible.\u00c2\u00a0 So I am jotting down these whiney thoughts to let you know that I am waaaaay behind but hope to catch up soon.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ryan, my son, is still working on the &#8220;store&#8221; and before surgery I posted some things but there is so much more to come.\u00c2\u00a0 All in all, this is going to take more time than I thought, what with my limited capacity for sitting at the computer.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I thank you all for your kind, caring thoughts and messages.\u00c2\u00a0 For all my complaining, the knee is healing well and I&#8217;ll get an evaluation tomorrow at my first out-patient physical therapy appointment.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been thinking about joining a senior soccer team, but I think I will put that on hold for the time being.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now, I&#8217;m off for one more session with the stationary bike&#8230;&#8230;..Happy sewing to all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>of mice and men gang aft agley,&#8221;
