{"id":8152,"date":"2010-07-08T22:51:08","date_gmt":"2010-07-09T02:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=8152"},"modified":"2012-03-18T18:56:03","modified_gmt":"2012-03-18T22:56:03","slug":"roberts-yellow-towel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/08\/roberts-yellow-towel\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert&#8217;s Yellow Towel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertsyellowtowelscan1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13735\" title=\"Robertsyellowtowelscan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertsyellowtowelscan1-1024x586.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertsyellowtowelscan1-1024x586.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertsyellowtowelscan1-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well, I finally finished Robert&#8217;s long since requested yellow towel and I must say I am pleased with the result.\u00c2\u00a0 I have only a scan of the hood and will post a better picture tomorrow.\u00c2\u00a0 But I&#8217;ve got some bug&#8211;or the bug has me&#8211;and I didn&#8217;t get an outdoor shot of the project today as planned.<\/p>\n<p>First, I have to thank Elisabeth for her\u00c2\u00a0recommendation of fabric.com.\u00c2\u00a0 I found what they called yellow &#8220;French terry,&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 but there are no loops which indicate terry to me.\u00c2\u00a0 But it is nice, thick, and stretchy&#8211;good for wrapping around a little guy.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13736\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertowelwholebrite.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13736\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-13736\" title=\"Robertowelwholebrite\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertowelwholebrite-807x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"634\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertowelwholebrite-807x1024.jpg 807w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertowelwholebrite-236x300.jpg 236w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Robertowelwholebrite.jpg 957w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13736\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">a new day, a new picture<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I cut the 60&#8243;\u00c2\u00a0fabric into a 45&#8243; square and then\u00c2\u00a0cut a 20&#8243; square for the hood.\u00c2\u00a0 Fusible knit stabilizer was ironed on to the back of the piece in the embriodery area.\u00c2\u00a0 The square\u00c2\u00a0was folded in half diagonally and the embroidery centered.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0After\u00c2\u00a0the embroidery,\u00c2\u00a0the square was cut down to measure 20&#8243; on the diagonal.\u00c2\u00a0Then the folded edge was bound.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Robert chose three designs from\u00c2\u00a0Ace Point&#8217;s\u00c2\u00a0<em>Jumping Dolphins<\/em> collection.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0His family had just taken a vacation to Naples, Florida,\u00c2\u00a0where they\u00c2\u00a0went on a dolphin watch boat ride.\u00c2\u00a0 The children were thrilled to see the dolphins racing companionably side-by-side with the boat.\u00c2\u00a0 So the embroidery design reminds him of that wonderful family time together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/RobertTowelRbrite.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13737\" title=\"RobertTowelRbrite\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/RobertTowelRbrite-515x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"994\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/RobertTowelRbrite-515x1024.jpg 515w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/RobertTowelRbrite-151x300.jpg 151w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/RobertTowelRbrite.jpg 604w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is an interesting set of embroidery designs.\u00c2\u00a0 The water is applique&#8217;d in place and then a daisy stitch is worked as the fill.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0A blue and white stripe fabric from my stash served as the water and the binding.\u00c2\u00a0The daisy fill stitch over the stripes gave an interesting effect.\u00c2\u00a0 I was disappointed in the way the ball stitched out.
