I’m\u00c2\u00a0still having a grand time here in the\u00c2\u00a0 mountains with the grandchildren and their mothers.\u00c2\u00a0 This blog is supposed to be about sewing so I’m focusing on game day projects.\u00c2\u00a0 The earlier post about football brought even more football fans out of the woodwork, so I hope those of you who are not big fans\u00c2\u00a0will indulge me as I pursue one of my favorite subjects.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Today was Game Day for the Gators and\u00c2\u00a0most other college football teams.\u00c2\u00a0 With a noon\u00c2\u00a0kickoff on the schedule, we donned our Gator gear, fed the children an early lunch, set out our snack food and hunkered down for the game.\u00c2\u00a0 Robert was clad in the new Gator shirt I embroidered for him, while Alastair wore one of Cousin Robert’s hand-me-down\u00c2\u00a0Florida warm up suits.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Laurel, bless her sweet little heart, gracefully took the news that I had not managed\u00c2\u00a0to embroider a new game day shirt for her.\u00c2\u00a0 Just before kickoff, she came out of her bedroom\u00c2\u00a0wearing one of her mama’s.\u00c2\u00a0 She refused\u00c2\u00a0to watch the game without “suiting up”!<\/p>\n

It was incredibly hot in The Swamp today, around 103 at half time.\u00c2\u00a0 The announcers said it was the hottest weather ever for a Gator home game.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Two year old\u00c2\u00a0Alysha, our godchild’s daughter,\u00c2\u00a0was at her first game with grandparents and Aunt Anna.\u00c2\u00a0 She is wearing the shirt I embroidered for her last week.\u00c2\u00a0It’s tough being a baby Gator, but I’m sure she drank her weight in lemonade and spent a lot of time in the protective shade\u00c2\u00a0of the stands.<\/p>\n

While we watched the game here in a cool 70 degrees, Bob and Ryan were also at the game.\u00c2\u00a0 We all enjoyed the game and the win. But on game day, there is a loser in every game and no one wants their team to be that loser.<\/p>\n

Just yesterday, a man and his crew came to replace the gutters on the cabin.\u00c2\u00a0 Both our car and the little utility trailer are clearly marked as Gator vehicles.\u00c2\u00a0 He smiled and said, “I’m an FSU Seminole (Gator arch rivals).\u00c2\u00a0 If I had known you were Gators, I would have charged you more.”<\/p>\n

I smiled and replied, “If I had known you were a ‘Nole, I would have hired someone else.”\u00c2\u00a0 I was joking but I’m not sure that he was.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The Seminoles lost today.<\/p>\n
