{"id":9082,"date":"2010-09-30T22:44:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-01T02:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/?p=9082"},"modified":"2011-11-26T23:43:59","modified_gmt":"2011-11-27T04:43:59","slug":"lavished-linen-blouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/30\/lavished-linen-blouse\/","title":{"rendered":"Lavished Linen Blouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishedlinenwholeBRITE.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13792\" title=\"LavishedlinenwholeBRITE\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishedlinenwholeBRITE.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishedlinenwholeBRITE.jpg 514w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishedlinenwholeBRITE-300x235.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 514px) 100vw, 514px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This classic linen blouse is lavished with fil tire&#8217;, bullion roses, lazy daisies, web roses and point de Paris.\u00c2\u00a0 It looks like the product of an overworked, thimbled embroideress.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, it was all done by machine.<\/p>\n<p>Wing needle entredeux and shaped French laces add detail and delicacy to this versatile garment.\u00c2\u00a0 It is\u00c2\u00a0a project I designed and taught\u00c2\u00a0at the Babylock school at a Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion in Huntsville.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13791\" title=\"LavishlinenblouseFembBRITE\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishlinenblouseFembBRITE-1024x741.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishlinenblouseFembBRITE-1024x741.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishlinenblouseFembBRITE-300x217.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/LavishlinenblouseFembBRITE.jpg 1756w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The machine embroidery is from <em>Fil Tire&#8217; and Fancywork Combinations<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 by Suzanne Sawko and me.\u00c2\u00a0 Suzanne digitized the designs and her fil tire&#8217;, in my unbiased opinion, is the best,\u00c2\u00a0 cleanest and\u00c2\u00a0most delicate\u00c2\u00a0machine embroidered fil tire&#8217;\u00c2\u00a0 there is.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite features of this blouse is the entredeux inserted between the sleeves and bodice.\u00c2\u00a0 Even people who cannot sew notice this detail and marvel at the novelty.\u00c2\u00a0 Of course, it is more time consuming than a standard sleeve insertion, but it is not difficult.\u00c2\u00a0 These same observers usually comment on the pinstitch which seems to hold the neck bias binding in place.<\/p>\n<p>I have always contended that these little details are what makes an heirloom garment an heirloom.\u00c2\u00a0 Good construction and\u00c2\u00a0fine materials are requirements of heirloom sewing, but the extra details are what makes it an heirloom.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Geometr231 BT; font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Geometr231 BT; font-size: large;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This classic linen blouse is lavished with fil tire&#8217;, bullion roses, lazy daisies, web roses and point de Paris.\u00c2\u00a0 It looks like the product of an overworked, thimbled embroideress.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, it was all done by machine.
