This program turns any digital photo into a coloring page!\u00c2\u00a0 And you can even add fun extras, such as hats or funny hair or mustaches.<\/p>\n

Before the start of the school year, I bought new boxes of Crayolas for\u00c2\u00a0 Robert and Laurel.\u00c2\u00a0 Though I hadn’t noticed the box cover promo for this\u00c2\u00a0free–except for the cost of the crayolas–program, \u00c2\u00a0Robert spotted it immediately and couldn’t wait to get started.\u00c2\u00a0 That boy can spot a .com from across the room.<\/p>\n

Much to my chagrin, I just\u00c2\u00a0couldn’t seem to get around to\u00c2\u00a0checking this out\u00c2\u00a0until this past week.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Robert was delighted and so were Laurel and I. It is soooooo neat!<\/p>\n

Just go to the website www.crayola.com\/colorme<\/a> and click on the free\u00c2\u00a0 trial or log in with the code stamped inside\u00c2\u00a0the lid of the crayola box.<\/p>\n

We’re starting a diary\/coloring book of memories from this school year.\u00c2\u00a0 Laurel’s sewing and Robert’s “shopping”–his term for shop class–will be documented and\u00c2\u00a0recalled even more vividly as they relive the activity with crayons.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Here \u00c2\u00a0is an example, using a photo from our trip to North Carolina.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

My three grandchildren are sitting on the back porch swing of the historic Mast General Store.\u00c2\u00a0 For fun, we have added mustaches for the boys and hats for all three. There are muscle-man arms, a variety of hair styles and so much more, just to delight.<\/p>\n

Thrilled as I am about the fun of this program, I plan to apply it to more\u00c2\u00a0educational purposes.\u00c2\u00a0 We have studied famous art, from Edward Hicks Peaceable Kingdom<\/em> to the Mona Lisa<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 After our brief discussion, with the simple goals of familiarization and appreciation, coloring\u00c2\u00a0the actual\u00c2\u00a0image would have been so enriching to their experience.\u00c2\u00a0 And that’s just what we will do\u00c2\u00a0after we examine Rousseau’s La Carriole<\/em> next week.<\/p>\n

As we study geography,\u00c2\u00a0the children can color downloaded photos of landmarks and landforms.<\/p>\n

Finally, here is\u00c2\u00a0the sewing connection.\u00c2\u00a0 Taking that idea a step further, I also\u00c2\u00a0plan to do a coloring book\/diary of the children\u00c2\u00a0wearing\u00c2\u00a0garments I have made for them. I will print the pictures and insert them into a loose leaf notebook for easy addition of new pages. Again, such a collection of images will strengthen their memories.<\/p>\n

It looks like “coloring,”\u00c2\u00a0 ala www.crayola.com\/colorme<\/a>, will become a major addition to our homeschool curriculum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
