I hated every one I made.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Next came the Elna 7000 electronic &#8220;eyeball,&#8221; and the improved version on my new Elna Diva.\u00c2\u00a0 Still, I tensed up as soon as it was time for buttonholes.\u00c2\u00a0 My Pfaff 7570 gave me no more peace of mind.<\/p>\n<p>With my first Brother,\u00c2\u00a0my buttonholes were improved, but still a cause for dread.\u00c2\u00a0 Buttonhole apprehension continued to plague me with each machine, the 8500, the ULT series and even to my beloved Brother Duetta 4500.<\/p>\n<p>With each machine, I hoped \u00c2\u00a0buttonholes would be easy for me.\u00c2\u00a0 Ultimately, I had to admit that the fault was not with any of these fine machines.\u00c2\u00a0 It was <strong>always<\/strong> operator error caused by anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC018081.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31980\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC018081.jpg\" alt=\"DSC01808\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC018081.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC018081-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, victory is mine!\u00c2\u00a0 Now, all my buttonholes are made on the embroidery side of my machine.\u00c2\u00a0 I purchased a set of buttonholes from\u00c2\u00a0<em> Embroidery Library<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emblibrary.com\">www.emblibrary.com<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0 They offer several themed sets, from nature to sports, but each collection comes with unadorned buttonholes in 6 sizes, from 3\/8&#8243; to 1 1\/2&#8243;.\u00c2\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Even though the size is identified, buttons vary in\u00c2\u00a0 thickness and I was never certain that a given size would work\u00c2\u00a0perfectly.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0After stitching out many sample buttonholes, I finally made up a color coded sampler.\u00c2\u00a0 In my software, I changed the color of the design to match the color on my sampler.\u00c2\u00a0 Now, I don&#8217;t even have to measure the button.\u00c2\u00a0 It is an easy matter to pull out this sampler, pop my chosen button through whichever hole fits, select the matching color from my designs and embroider away.<\/p>\n<p>Another practice I&#8217;ve taken up, is embroidering multiple buttonholes on one sheet of stabilizer.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0After hooping a medium weight tearaway, I embroider as many buttonholes as I can fit in that hoop.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Almost always, I add a basting frame around the buttonhole.\u00c2\u00a0 This holds it in place and allows me to place the next buttonhole nearby.<\/p>\n<p>The above photo shows buttonholes made on my grandsons&#8217;
