Now, if I can just keep him out of the tree house until picture time.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/BoysChristmasMousescan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9842\" title=\"BoysChristmasMousescan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/BoysChristmasMousescan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"663\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/BoysChristmasMousescan.jpg 350w, http:\/\/www.janicefergusonsews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/BoysChristmasMousescan-158x300.jpg 158w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a>Alastair&#8217;s shirt will\u00c2\u00a0feature\u00c2\u00a0an embroidered Mouse King.\u00c2\u00a0 He drew the mouse because 1. he&#8217;s the little guy, though anything but mousey\u00c2\u00a0and 2.\u00c2\u00a0 he won&#8217;t be going to The Nutcracker.\u00c2\u00a0 It just didn&#8217;t seem right for Robert and Laurel to attend that\u00c2\u00a0classic holiday\u00c2\u00a0affair matched up as the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Mouse King.\u00c2\u00a0 Robert just had to have the nutcracker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I&#8217;ve planned black velveteen button-on pants for Alastair, but instead may make\u00c2\u00a0 bubble pants like those in the <em>Wright<\/em> pattern from Children&#8217;s Corner.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0First, however,\u00c2\u00a0Robert&#8217;s clothes must be completed.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Sewing\u00c2\u00a0special outfits for boys always seems to\u00c2\u00a0 require adjustments, in style or fit.\u00c2\u00a0 Alastair wears bulky cloth diapers so his pants will likely require a size larger, or at least more width than a 2. Robert is very thin so the knickers would have been a fitting challenge.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Last week when he spent the night, he forgot to pack his belt.\u00c2\u00a0 A \u00c2\u00a0good part of the day was spent with him holding up his pants.\u00c2\u00a0 When they went outside for recess, Laurel came running in to report that Robert dropped his pants!\u00c2\u00a0 On purpose!\u00c2\u00a0 I knew otherwise but finally used rawhide cord to tie them up.\u00c2\u00a0 A quickie pair of shorts with an elastic band will stay up and fit for sure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Now, the goods are all assembled, sample sew outs of the embroidery are done and preferred color changes noted.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s time to get started.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I&#8217;d really, really love to hear about Christmas sewing you all are doing.\u00c2\u00a0 Judy has\u00c2\u00a0reported in\u00c2\u00a0about her twin pink velveteen granddaughter dresses.\u00c2\u00a0 Inquiring minds want to know about what the rest of you are making.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now that Laurel&#8217;s Christmas dress is finished, I am\u00c2\u00a0ready to begin\u00c2\u00a0 outfits for her brother, Robert, 5,\u00c2\u00a0and cousin Alastair, 20 months.\u00c2\u00a0 Black velveteen and\u00c2\u00a0embroidery designs from The Nutcracker are\u00c2\u00a0the common components that will coordinate these garments.
