Saturday was a day of treasured memories.\u00c2\u00a0 Norman Rockwell himself never had it so good.\u00c2\u00a0 With their families, both of our children \u00c2\u00a0gathered around the dining room table in the home where they grew up.\u00c2\u00a0 Bob and I were again grateful beyond words for all of our blessings.<\/p>\n

The menu was traditional, with turkey, dressing,\u00c2\u00a0pumpkin and mincemeat pies\u00c2\u00a0and all the trimmings.\u00c2\u00a0A few years ago, we added a new item to the table and due to popular demand, it has become a regular.\u00c2\u00a0 Cranberry-orange relish is easy-peasy, can be made in advance and\u00c2\u00a0keeps for one week. The recipe is posted below.<\/p>\n

The day\u00c2\u00a0began with everyone watching football as our beloved Gators tried to improve their performance in a disappointing season.\u00c2\u00a0At half time, the crowd moved outside for some action in the front yard.\u00c2\u00a0 Alastair surprised us with his strong 20 month old arm and both Robert and Laurel ran some pretty good routes.<\/p>\n

Half time also gave me the opportunity to pin up the hem in Laurel’s Christmas dress.\u00c2\u00a0 I think she will be prettier than the Sugar Plum Fairy herself when we attend The Nutcracker next month.<\/p>\n

All three children clowned around, but as always,\u00c2\u00a0Alastair dodged the camera like a wide receiver outrunning a tackle.\u00c2\u00a0 So no other good pictures of him are posted. The Gators did win the football game, though it was not an SEC match, and we all enjoyed\u00c2\u00a0that time-honored Thanksgiving tradition.\u00c2\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After a huge dinner, we told scary stories around a big bonfire.\u00c2\u00a0 Robert’s tale, of course, was about mummies and frankly, I was almost frightened.\u00c2\u00a0 His was a great story and told with such expression that we were all on the edge of our log.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The moon was full, so the evening was topped off with a “night ride” in the golf cart\u00c2\u00a0 through the “forest” across the street.\u00c2\u00a0 This is the very place where the children have seen purple lions, pink giraffes and orange monkeys swinging through the trees eating cotton candy.\u00c2\u00a0 Imagination is a\u00c2\u00a0glorious gift of childhood.<\/p>\n

The previous post showed our three grandchildren in their in-a-jiffy turkey day shirts.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0These were such fun to make with the Gobble Alphabet<\/em> from www.planetapplique.com<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0I chose to use different fabric for each of the monograms.\u00c2\u00a0 Repeating the same patterns three times just seemed too boring to me.<\/p>\n

But now,\u00c2\u00a0it’s time to get\u00c2\u00a0really serious about the boys’ Christmas outfits.<\/p>\n
